Aloha!

by Morgan Shepherd | September 16, 2022 4:09 PM

We made it safely to Oahu! We are settled in and have been enjoying the beautiful landscapes we pass on our drives. Last night we had an impromptu trip to the beach to see the sunset after orientation!

Aloha!

A Bit of Demo

by Morgan Shepherd | September 16, 2022 4:13 PM

We have lots of projects ahead of us this week at the church! One of which is renovating two bathrooms; they are used often and in need of some updates. We’ve started filling cracks in the walls, tearing out the counters, and cleaning the glass window plates.

We also are working on cleaning the kitchen! The property has a lot of people come through, and cleaning and organizing is always needed somewhere!

by Morgan Shepherd | September 18, 2022 4:12 AM

While at a stand-still waiting for parts and supplies, a few of us went to the beach for a quick dip in the ocean before getting back to work!

Cleaning for Jesus

by Morgan Shepherd | September 18, 2022 4:18 AM

Saturday we started working bright and early. A small group of us swept, mopped, and cleaned some of the church’s buildings, which is a constant need with all of the activities and events the church has throughout the week.

by Morgan Shepherd | September 18, 2022 2:41 PM

The church has a building to house staff and we have been able to come alongside a flooring project they have been hoping to get done before a new family moves in next month! We are laying flooring in the main hallway and in the empty apartment.

Pie Crust Communion Bread

by Morgan Shepherd | September 19, 2022 4:07 AM

This morning, we got to attend the Sunset Beach church service! They service is held outside and Pastor Jacob has a “come as you are” motto. We enjoyed some beautiful worship with solely a ukulele and a great message on Acts 8 and the contrast of the two conversions. We felt so welcomed and blessed to join in the service today!

The Pineapple King

Sunday afternoon, we went to Waimea Valley, though we weren’t able to see the waterfall due to drought, we enjoyed a peaceful hot dog lunch with some beautiful botanical views. Then we went to the Dole Plantation! We took the Pineapple Express tour around the plantation, did the 2008 World's Largest Maze, ate some Dole whip, and did some souvenir shopping!

by Morgan Shepherd | September 25, 2022 12:11 AM

Last but not least, we reattached the doors to the bathroom stalls! Then we got to stand back and see the finished product! We are so thankful to partner with Sunset Beach and be able to help them to focus more on their church body and community and not worry about their bathroom anymore!

Power in Prayer

by Morgan Shepherd | September 25, 2022 12:14 AM

Tuesday morning, we were also able to help with the church’s homeless ministry outreach. The people experiencing homelessness were provided with some groceries, a hot meal, access to clothes, and got to hear a powerful testimony and were shared the gospel. One woman in particular was moved by the testimony and Suzanne was able to join in on praying for and loving on her.

by Morgan Shepherd | September 25, 2022 12:20 AM

We got dropped off at the airport Wednesday afternoon. We ended our trip in prayer of thanks to God for the way He worked in this trip and how He continues to work. We are thankful for this opportunity to learn and experience so many things and are excited to share with our community back home!
