First Presbyterian Church of San Marcos

The First Presbyterian Church of San Marcos team has arrived at Camp Restore for a great week of serving Christ and others! 

Today our team experienced a great service given by Chris Johnston at Lighthouse Church. We are so excited by this great partnership and inspired by the initiative of this church to serve the local community! 

Our team braved the rain before it cleared and has been having a great time! The French Quarter churches, river boats, and places like Café Du Monde are so historically significant! 

Our team is already hard at work getting nails out of the support beams and working with drywall and insulation. With the many contractors, and most importantly, God’s help, we know a lot of progress is going to be made this week! 

During our break and lunch time, Pastor Chris shared his testimony and the history of Lighthouse Church! It is such a blessing to hear how this host church has blessed this community over the years through disaster relief and spiritual health! 

We finished up the day with two dry-walled ceilings; Everyone worked really hard and did really great! 

After a hard day’s work, our team went out in the evening and got stuffed snowballs. It was delicious and local to the area!

Our team is already hard at work again putting up drywall on the ceilings and walls. Everyone is focused and serving with their best! 

After a break, our team was back in action, and we put walls up in the church rooms! We are so grateful to God, Pastor Chris, his family, and for being allowed to be a part of the story of this church that does so much for its community.

Day three here at Lighthouse Church, and our teams are working extra hard to finish as much as possible! Both PPM teams signed a time capsule to be put into the wall as well to commemorate God allowing us to partner with this lovely church during this trip.

Our hosts surprised us with tons of delicious pizza! We are so appreciative of Pastor Chris, Vera, and their whole family for allowing us to be a part of this experience. We were blessed by this partnership God has orchestrated!

After lunch, our team came together and thanked and prayed for Pastor Chris and his family. They also prayed for our team as well, and yet again we were thankful for the partnership and to God!

Our team started off their recreation day activities with a complimentary airboat tour organized by Pastor Chris and his wife, Vera. Once again, their spiritual gift of generosity is so deeply appreciated. It was a big surprise, just like our friend here, the alligator, who came to say hello! Everyone stayed safe and got to have some gator fun!

Today after the airboat tour, our team had a great time at the beach out in the sun! Not only that, but the night concluded with a “paper-plate awards” ceremony, celebrating each kid and something funny/special that they exhibited during the week. God made each person so important and special on this team!
