Christian Life Church

Christian Life Church has arrived in DeQuincy, Louisiana at Evergreen Baptist Church. 

We got the opportunity to meet Pastor James Harris and are eager to serve the church and the community starting with Vacation Bible School (VBS) and a painting project tomorrow!

Today in VBS we sang, danced, made a craft, and played games. Our theme for the week is “Around the World” and in the Bible lesson we learned about how we all are called to be missionaries by telling others about Jesus!

God’s word, the Bible, still has many languages that it needs to be translated into in order for people to be able to read God’s word in their hnative language.

This afternoon we got the opportunity to bless Miss Ruby, one of the members of the church congregation, this week by putting a fresh coat of paint on the exterior of her home. 

We hope to finish this up and make it look beautiful tomorrow!

Everyone helped paint today, but the sweetest painter on our team goes to Danna!

Today for VBS we had over 20 kids come by to spend time worshipping, playing games, and learning about the Bible. Jacintha, one of the church members, did an incredible missionary work yesterday by inviting and bringing so many more kids after she and her children had fun yesterday. 

We learned about how the Quechua people of Peru recently got the New Testament translated into their language, it’s amazing to learn about our God who is at work around the world. 

This afternoon we finished up painting at Miss Ruby’s house; it was a blessing to serve her this week.

A small group got to pray with her and Pastor Ryan reported, “She may be the happiest person I’ll ever meet.” 

The winner for the most paint on themselves goes to Tirza!

We were sad for it to be the last day of VBS, but we had a ton of fun together worshipping and learning a lot. 

Today we made bracelets to represent our salvation in Jesus Christ with colored beads in this order: Black (our sin), Red (the blood of Christ), Green (new life in Him), and Yellow (shine our light to others). 

Today we spent some time at the Gulf Coast Beach for an afternoon of rest. This evening we enjoyed some pizza a la Dominoes and fresh Shrimp a la Chad.

One of the clear God moments from this week was that Pastor Ryan, Chad, Lacey, Jude, and Jen helped lead worship or devotionals this week which were intentional and powerful. 

The verse we focused on was Jeremiah 17: 7-8 ““But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.””

This verse also has been the verse all over our Pelican Guides and been prayed over for PPM this year as we launch PPM 365; clearly this was God putting it on their hearts as they came. As you go home may you never stop producing fruit, Christian Life Church, it was a pleasure to serve with you.
