Safe Arrival!

by Staff | July 9, 2012 3:33 PM

Saturday we arrived safely to Belize and right on time, we managed to drive up to the Youth hostel and spent some time with the young people and just speaking to them about having a good time with christ and also sharing our life story. After being out there we headed out to Cheers restaurant and had the most awesome burrito and finally made our way to our lodging ground. Great day and a wonderful start to our week! We hope to provide you with updates every other day at a minimum with our current wifi connections! Stay tuned!

Sunday Church Service!

by Shannon Simonton | July 9, 2012 11:09 PM

On Sunday morning, we boarded the bus and drove to Benque where we attended church at Benque Baptist Church and we were inspired by Pastor Luis message that said that God has a plan for all of us! While Pastor was preaching, the youth helped teach Sunday School to 7 eager children. We were blessed by their smiles and their genuine love. After church, we stopped by the construction site where we are going to be working this week. It was so exciting to see the site and meet the people we will be working with. This is going to be an exciting week!

House Visits

by Shannon Simonton | July 9, 2012 11:17 PM

On Sunday afternoon and Monday morning, we were blessed with the opportunity to go home to home and visit the Belizean people! We carried with us Bibles, first aid kits, tracks and the Love of Jesus. There were so many needs in the town that we saw, both physical and spiritual and we did the best we could (with Gods help of course!) to meet those needs. During house visits we also invited many children to Vacation Bible School and many adults to SALT training. This week is already looking exciting and we cannot wait to see what else God does!!!

First Day of VBS! YES!

by Shannon Simonton | July 9, 2012 11:35 PM

Today was our first day of VBS! We loved seeing the children run into the church with smiling faces and eager hearts. We taught them about the seven days of creation, sang songs, made necklaces, played kick ball, and ate snacks! Our hearts were touched when they gave us hugs and wouldn't leave our sides; it was so difficult getting them to leave. Tomorrow we are expecting even more children and we are looking forward to building upon the relationships that we have already started.

We had such a fun time playing kick ball! Our shirts were practically drenched in sweat!

Construction on the Roof

by Shannon Simonton | July 10, 2012 11:46 PM

Work work work work!! This morning was full of lifting, carrying, nailing, and sweating! The guys worked super hard helping Pastor Pacheco finish his church. The construction is almost finished; all that is left is to put up the zinc roofing and bless the church. We are so excited to see this three year project come to a close.

The Mayan Ruins

by Shannon Simonton | July 10, 2012 11:56 PM

What an exciting morning we had today!! After a 40 minute walk up hill, we finally reached the Xunantunich Mayan Ruins. What a site to see. We immediately went to the tallest ruin and climbed the steep steps to the top. When we got there, we were shocked by the beautiful scenery. Oh! And in addition to that, we saw Howler monkeys jumping from tree to tree. The entire experience was such a great cultural experience.

Second Day at VBS

by Shannon Simonton | July 11, 2012 12:11 AM

Today at Vacation Bible School we used Adam and Eve to talk about how we are sinful beings. To better illustrate this, we poured baby powder into a rectangle that we made out of tape. The baby powder represented our sin,and the rectangle represented the gap that separates us fro God. Next, we challenged the kids to walk across the baby powder without getting the "sin" on their shoes. Well surprise! They couldn't do it. Every single one of them had baby powder on their shoes. Tomorrow we are going to share how they get be free of their sin and walk eternally with Jesus Christ!

Hello to the team! Been praying that everyone be blessed with good health and a "God experience". Vika, I thought of you yesterday while I was floating in the pool. I can tell by the pictures that you are such a blessing to the children. Your joy is so contagious, and God's love definitely flows through you! I prayed He would keep you safe and well, that he would give you peace if you were homesick, and that you would see Him in a whole new way! Jeanne, this morning I thought of you. I prayed for good health and endurance, for a special time with your son, and for God to reveal himself in new ways to you! I also prayed for Randy, being apart from his spouse. I've been praying for the people, that their hearts would be open to receive the message, and that they would see Christ in each and every one of you. I am filled with joy for all of you and what God is doing. Looking forward to what you have to share!! Your sis in Christ.

Vika --So glad to know you are at your destination and actively involved in the " mission" work. What an awesome experience for you to serve our GREAT GOD in this way. It is much cooler here than back home and we watched the fireworks display in our light jackets ! Blueberries are ripe and thimbleberries "your favorite" are begiining as well. Well we are praying for you everyday and so far it sounds like you are doing very similar things like we have done without translators? Remember that the Bible says to"trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path". By doing this you will be amazed how God will lead you in unexplainable situations to glorify Himself. That's what being used by God is all about!! We will be anxious to hear how God uses you and your team to glorify Himself in Belize. Love you G & G

Hello Belizian missions team! We dearly miss you and take great comfort in knowing that our most awesome LORD GOD is doing an amazing work through the willing servants of you all. We pray diligently for you all to be transformed by the power of HIS mighty hand working through you this week. I would have loved to have joined you. Where I was weak, you were strong and there you are. GOD bless this team! Dyl and I are enjoying our time together, the house is still standing, the garden is growing and producing abundantly. No doubt from HIS hand. Went swimming and fishing and helped Grandpa and grandma water their little trees and lilacs. Today is work day in the living room as well as tomarrow. Plan to have it ready for weekend of hanging drywall on the ceiling. Did we mention that we miss you Becky and Sara terribly so! I amble around looking for you and neither are there. Dan Hi mom and Sara miss and love you both! See you both soon! Dylan

Good Morning Becky & Sara! It is a wonderful 64 degrees outside this morning....we are saving the 'hot' weather for when you get back. Sorry this took so long; we had the wrong password. Daniel tried to send something yesterday as well. I am a 'little green' thinking about all the opportunities God is giving you to serve. I will continue to uphold you in prayer as He works in and through you for 'HIS GOOD PURPOSE' May you be strengthen with might by His Spirit; may Christ dwell in your hearts by faith; May you know the love of Christ and filled with all the fullness of God. I look forward to hearing more of your adventures when you return home.
