Morning Devos

by Ronda Baldwin | March 28, 2022 2:45 PM

We started our first day of work with breakfast and a devotional time together. The other two teams who are serving with us this week from Arizona and Pennsylvania joined us before we headed out to our service project sites.

Building Hope

by Gene Bracken | March 28, 2022 10:43 PM

Today, we helped a retired pastor build a carport onto his outbuilding.  He had been trying for two years to hire a contractor to help him.  We finished the carport in one day and also were able to install a window, fix a door, and begin preparing his ramp for painting!

This pastor and his wife are deeply respected in the community and have been battling health issues.  Having accomplished so much in one day greatly encouraged the pastor and his family!

Prep Work

Another thing we got to do for Gene and Bobbye today was clean and scrape their ramp. It is all prepared for a fresh coat of paint tomorrow.

Before the Work Can Begin

by Ronda Baldwin | March 28, 2022 11:31 PM

Several of us spent our morning cleaning out the storage space at the local teen center ministry. This week we will be helping build walls and showers so they can host camps for their kids and mission teams for Praying Pelican Missions.

That's a lot of Stuff!

by Ronda Baldwin | March 28, 2022 11:34 PM

In the afternoon, we loaded one warehouse full of stuff into a truck to move it to another that was also full of donations for the tornado victims. We are condensing their donations and organizing them so that when someone needs something, it is easy for the volunteers to help them find it.

Hearing the Stories

by Ronda Baldwin | March 29, 2022 10:15 PM

Today we were blessed to help a family who lost all but two of their trees in the tornado, including a huge one that fell on their shed. Before we started work, they took the time to share their story with us. It's hard to hear, but it also helps motivate us to serve them with all our hearts.

Cutting Damage Down to Size

by Gene Bracken | March 29, 2022 10:32 PM

Today we helped a homeowner remove debris from the tornadic storms that affected the area. Several trees were blown down and we began cutting them down to size.  Jodi fulfilled her dream of using a chainsaw!  There is a lot to do, but we made a difference!

Clearing After the Storm

by Gene Bracken | March 29, 2022 10:41 PM

The December 2021 storms left behind a terrible mess.  But, we helped one homeowner clear away debris and trash.  She was hoping her flowers might return, if we could clean up her yard and flower beds.  What a joy it was to give her something to look forward to!

Prayer Matters

by Ronda Baldwin | March 29, 2022 10:44 PM

What a blessing it was to have an opportunity to lift this sweet family up in prayer! They have been through so much. It is humbling to be able to serve them in this way.

Digging a Trench

by Ronda Baldwin | March 29, 2022 10:47 PM

Homeowners Adam and Anna lost their house in the tornado. They inherited an old family home that needs a lot of work. We spent some time today digging a trench (which is a lot of work!) and burying a pipe that has been just sitting across the yard where their children play.

Painting and Grinning

by Ronda Baldwin | March 29, 2022 10:50 PM

We went back to Gene and Bobbye's house today where we painted the carport and their handicap ramp. We had so much fun getting to know Mr. Gene even better!

Framing Up Hope and a Future

by Gene Bracken | March 29, 2022 10:51 PM

The local Teen Center is upgrading its facilities so that it can host future PPM teams and have overnight events. They used to have a free camp for children and teens at a nearby camping area. Unfortunately, the camp became unusable after neglect.  Today, we helped frame up walls for shower/bathrooms and bunk rooms.  It is exciting to think the work we did could help teens and mission teams in the future!

Roof Repair

by Ronda Baldwin | March 29, 2022 10:53 PM

Our last project at Gene and Bobbye's was patching a hole in the roof of the shed. You can see Mr. Gene in the background doing his best to join us in the work.

Building the Right Kind of Walls

by Ronda Baldwin | March 31, 2022 4:21 PM

Today we built the big wall to separate the boys and girls rooms upstairs in the teen center. Tomorrow we'll lift the top half up and finish the framing.

Laying the Floor

by Ronda Baldwin | March 31, 2022 4:26 PM

Another new project we got to do this week was laying a new floor at the Agape Service Foundation. Mr. Mike was so welcoming and excited to have the work done.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

by Ronda Baldwin | March 31, 2022 4:32 PM

The farmhouse of the financial secretary at our host church was hit by the tornado. We spent Wednesday afternoon clearing lots of big trees from the property and building a safe burn pile for them. Working together we got a lot done!

Good Samaritan

by Ronda Baldwin | March 31, 2022 4:35 PM

We spent time on Wednesday deep cleaning the Good Samaritan Food Bank. We also got to make up several USDA meat bags for their food distribution in the community.

Jesus Makes Family

by Ronda Baldwin | March 31, 2022 4:50 PM

Wednesday night or host church, First Baptist Russellville, provided an amazing dinner for us. What a blessing it was to fellowship and worship together with them!

The Value of Life

by Ronda Baldwin | April 1, 2022 8:01 PM

Before we took a half day of recreation on Thursday, several of us got to serve at a pregnancy resource center. The director shared their story, we cleaned and organized their warehouse and brought a load of diapers and summer clothes to the center. While there we had the privilege of praying for a client who came in for a pregnancy test. What a blessing to be a small part of a ministry dedicated to the value of every life!

New Heights

by Gene Bracken | April 2, 2022 10:18 PM

Today, we helped finish framing walls at the Center of the Mark Teen Center.  The framing we did today will soon become bunk rooms and showers for the center to host mission teams and to host local teens for camps and other overnight events!

One of the highlights of the day was framing in the high wall that will make separate rooms for men and women.  It was hard work, but by working together we finished it!

Reaching Further Than We Know

by Gene Bracken | April 2, 2022 10:23 PM

What started off as a quick day to finish the flooring at Agape Ministries ended up being a fun opportunity to share our testimonies!  Agape's president, Mike Humble, interviewed two of us for his radio show that is carried on a local AM radio station.  Mike asked us questions about the importance of faith in Jesus as teenagers and as Hope said, "We did it!"
