After a long, eventful journey to Jackson, we arrived last night and got settled in, briefed for the week, and played some games before settling in for bed!

Today we got to worship with our brothers and sisters in Christ at Griffith Memorial Baptist Church in the morning. After church, we got to see God’s Haven, the ministry that we will be serving with in the mornings this week! In the afternoon we went to the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum and got to learn about local history.

This afternoon we were able to partner with an elderly couple, as well as widowed members of Griffith Memorial Baptist Church, and do various projects around their yards. We loved meeting these wonderful people and hearing the stories of God’s faithfulness in their lives!

This morning we returned to God’s Haven to continue loving on kids and hanging out with them. We have loved getting to know the kids, hearing their stories, and playing games with them, and we look forward to doing it again tomorrow!

We had a blast today washing cars and sharing the love of God. While the car washes were free, many felt compelled to donate to the church. We are excited to see how the Lord continues to move in the days to come!

We have enjoyed getting to partner with Pastor Andy and Griffith Memorial in serving the widows. We had a sweet moment of picking his brain and learning about the makeup of the widow ministry at his church as it's something we'd like to implement in our own church back home.
We love seeing what happens when the local church comes together as one. We'll be heading home ready to implement some of the things we learned from him.

Miss Marsha is so sweet!! She learned about Kylee's birthday earlier this week and took the time to make sure she was celebrated above and beyond! She figured out what Kylee's favorite ice cream flavor was and got her an ice cream cake.
While Miss Marsha is not a widow, she is a single lady whom we had the opportunity to serve this week. We love seeing tangible examples of how to love one another as Christ has loved us.

We had a wonderful, bittersweet time with the children at God's Haven this morning. Although we had to say goodbye, those kids will always have a special place in our hearts!

This afternoon we had the chance to explore the city of Jackson and its many unique and historical sites as we raced each other in a scavenger hunt! This was a great way for us to check out many of the areas we had not been able to explore yet. We ended the trip at a fun store with a lot of stickers, buttons, and t-shirts that are unique to Jackson.

This morning we had the joy of serving Pastor Andy, the pastor at Griffith Memorial Baptist Church, by doing landscaping work on his home. At the end of last summer, his house was sadly struck by lightning and burned to the ground. He is now rebuilding on the same site and we helped fill flower beds with dirt, mulch, and flowers!
We also took the time to plant a tree together next to his house as a reminder to all of us of what we have been doing all week, planting seeds and trusting that God will grow it into a plentiful harvest!

All throughout this week, the theme has been to plant seeds for the Kingdom. Today we got to plant a literal tree at pastor Andy's house and the picture couldn't be more kingdom-like. It's been an amazing week!

After a long morning of serving, we went kayaking. We had a blast on the water and enjoyed our well-deserved excursion!
