Just Arrived!

by Jordyn Burke | June 18, 2022 11:28 PM

Today we arrived at Dexter Baptist Church and we cannot wait to see what the Lord does this week!

Diapers

by Jordyn Burke | June 21, 2022 10:36 AM

Yesterday we went to Community Fellowship Baptist church to aid in organizing the shipment of diapers that they just received! Community Fellowship Baptist Church has become a diaper distribution center for those who were affected by the tornados in December.

Sunday Evening Worship

by Collan McCoy | June 22, 2022 2:16 PM

We were blessed to be able to worship with our friends at Dexter Baptist Church on Sunday morning and evening. They had a special gospel singer in town who gave an amazing testimony.

Worship with our friends at Trietch

by Collan McCoy | June 22, 2022 2:17 PM

Our team is partnered with another team from Trietch Church in Texas this week. They led us in worship and I think we all learned some new songs!

Bathroom Demolition!

by Collan McCoy | June 22, 2022 2:19 PM

One of our big projects this week is a bathroom demolition for a man near the church. His floor was falling through due to some damage so Judy took the lead and we were able to demo completely in one work day.

Great day for a swim!

by Collan McCoy | June 22, 2022 2:20 PM

After the heat index reached 100 degrees on Tuesday, we finished the day by cooling off in Kentucky Lake.

Azarian’s Testimony

by Collan McCoy | June 22, 2022 2:21 PM

After swimming, one of our trip leaders, Azarian, led us in a debrief time where he shared his testimony and prayed with us.

We’re Off To Find A Mammoth (Cave)

by Jake Headley | June 23, 2022 10:07 AM

Today, for our Rec Day, we are heading to tour Mammoth Cave, the longest known cave system in the world. We’re excited to see God’s creation on display in such a monumental way!

Mercy Chef

by Jordyn Burke | June 23, 2022 10:43 AM

This week we had two main ministries that we partnered alongside. The first being diaper distribution and the second being Mercy Chef. Mercy Chef is a disaster relief organization that comes in and makes sure that everyone has food. Within hours of the tornado hitting Mayfield, they had thousands of warm meals being brought up from one of their kitchens in Nashville. They have since opened up a kitchen closer and we had so much fun working alongside them preparing food!

Diapers

by Jordyn Burke | June 23, 2022 10:48 AM

This morning we finished off the last of our work with the Community Fellowship Baptist church and their diaper distribution. We sorted, organized, repalletized, and put away 27 pallets of diapers this week! We had a blast helping Community Fellowship!

The Bathroom Saga Part 1

by Collan McCoy | June 24, 2022 10:19 AM

I had to wait until later in the week to post these journals because of the incredible amount of compassion our team showed throughout this job.

We were able to work on replacing a bathroom for a resident close to the church. This resident has had two heart attacks in the last 7 months and has a 9 month old daughter. His bathroom floor was falling through so we told him we would replace it.

It turns out, two of his floor joists had rotted completely through. Judy said she would take care of it with some help of Brother Robert at the church. Judy and her crew worked tirelessly getting these joists replaced.

At last count, I believe we had approximately 10 of our team members work on this bathroom at some point, with Judy being the brains of the operation.

While everyone else had dinner, and got to sleep, Judy, Eli, and Henry decided that we were not going to leave the job unfinished. We ate dinner, then went straight back to at least get a toilet installed for the resident because they only have one bathroom in the house and need the basics.

The Bathroom Saga Final Part

by Collan McCoy | June 24, 2022 10:27 AM

At 11:45 PM central time, our 3-man team was finally able to finish our project for now. Praying Pelican has a team coming in next week to finish the rest, but after many hours and many setbacks, our team finished the job they started and I couldn’t be more proud of them.

Goodbye’s

by Azarian Bennett | June 24, 2022 10:35 AM

Today we said our goodbyes to our new friends from Texas and PPM. What an amazing week it has been loving on the community, serving alongside one another, and making lifetime memories. Thank you Dexter Baptist for being so kind to us this week by allowing us to use your facilities. Today is a bittersweet day, but we are excited to go home and share all that we have learned with our hometown. As said through the week, even though this mission trip has ended on the calendar, the mission trip the Great Commission calls us to continues!

Goodbye’s
