Attending Church & Iglesia

by Morgan Shepherd | June 26, 2022 1:30 PM

We attended church at Hughes United Methodist this morning! Typically, there are two services, one in English and one Spanish, but today it was one bilingual service. David taught the children about Peter walking on water and how we need to keep our eyes on Jesus! We also got to lead worship for the church, which was such a blessing to be a part of!

by Abigail Lapp | June 26, 2022 7:34 PM

We spent this afternoon exploring downtown Washington DC!

We got to see some of the nation’s capitol’s most famous landmarks, including the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. We also tracked down some great food trucks for dinner!

24/7 Worship

by Abigail Lapp | June 27, 2022 5:48 PM

This morning, a small group of us headed to downtown DC to lead a two hour worship set at David’s Tent!

David’s Tent is an outdoor tent in the heart of DC that had been a place of 24/7 worship, 365 days a year, since 2015. We were honored to join in their mission today!

You Are Made in God’s Image

by Morgan Shepherd | June 27, 2022 10:37 PM

In the morning, we broke up into smaller groups for Bible Story Time! We talked about Creation and being made in God’s Image. We loved spending this intentional time sharing the Bible with them!

Missions Minute

by Abigail Lapp | June 28, 2022 6:45 PM

During missions time today, John spoke to the kids about his mission trips to various places around the world, including Costa Rica, Peru, and the Philippines.

When one kid asked John why he wanted to go on missions trips, the answer was simple - to tell people about Jesus!

by Anna Medrys | June 30, 2022 7:03 AM

Every day we have Bible Study where the kids learn about Jesus and how much he loves us! We also learned about how God made each of us for a purpose!

Crazy Craig & Friends

by Abigail Lapp | June 30, 2022 7:06 AM

Some of the kid’s favorite part of VBS every day is a visit from their feathered friend Crazy Craig during drama.

Yesterday, Crazy Craig taught us about loving one another the way God loves us!

We all Scream for Ice Cream!

by Abigail Lapp | June 30, 2022 7:12 AM

After VBS, we swung by a local ice cream shop and had some tasty treats!

On top of the amazing experiences we’ve had at VBS this week, we’ve loved forming bonds within our group and having times of fellowship and rest together.

Built on a Foundation of Prayer

by Morgan Shepherd | June 30, 2022 7:30 AM

We ended the night with some time in prayer. Prayers for the church. Prayers for all of the kids we’ve met. Prayers for us as we go into the last day. Emotions were high as we shared stories from the week so far and we are excited to love on these kids one more day!

Gospel Bracelets

by Morgan Shepherd | July 2, 2022 9:56 PM

Our craft for the day was bracelets made with specific color beads to signify different pieces of the gospel. For example, the black bead represented sin. It was a fun craft, but it also was a great segway into sharing the Gospel with the kids!

Making Waves

by Morgan Shepherd | July 2, 2022 10:02 PM

We ended the week on such a high note! We gave all our energy and love to these kids and many of us even had the opportunity to one on one share the Gospel to a child. Saying goodbye was very bittersweet and we are so thankful for how this trip and these kids have impacted our lives. We pray that through God working in us, some seeds may have been planted in their lives, bringing them closer to Jesus.

It was a very special trip/experience. Missing the kids that we were able to bind with over the last week.
