Calvary Baptist Church

The team arrived safely at Grandview Church of God, in the Beechview Area of Pittsburgh, on Saturday afternoon. The pastor, Bishop Kenneth L Wade II, and the PPM team welcomed them and enjoyed a meal at Eat n’ Park. The waitress gifted the group a box of Smiley cookies.

Pastor Wade gave an encouraging sermon on loving your neighbor and living without excuses. Afterwards, the church hosted a delicious community picnic lunch for us. It was a great opportunity to get to know the members of the church a little better. 

Monday was our first day of ministry work. One of our teams worked with Pittsburgh Project and moved some furniture from one building to another. We also organized closets to prepare for a 7-week Christian-based summer program for school-aged children.

On Tuesday, the second team went to Northview Heights. They did a prayer walk through the community and played with some children who were at the center during the day. The team also primed a room that the other half of the PPM team will paint on Tuesday.

Tuesday morning we split into two work teams again. At The Bridge in Northview Heights, we painted the room the previous team primed. 

The team filled in new mulch at a local park.
