We joined Evergreen Baptist Church for church and later some fellowship with the congregation at El Tucán Mexican restaurant for lunch.
It was a blessing to get to hear about how God is moving in this community! Later we got back to camp and had a time of worship and a debrief from the day.
What a great start to our week of ministry!

Today we had our first workday at Evergreen Baptist Church! The church rebuilt the sanctuary and offices, and was in need of organizing and moving things into the new space.
We cleaned up some fellowship rooms and made room for Sunday School classrooms. We also were able to spend some time talking and getting to know the pastor and his wife!

We started out today's work at Abraham’s Tent where we did some food prep! We cut up chicken for a casserole, and peeled and chopped turnips.
It was great to serve and get to know those serving alongside us!

We packaged up some mashed potatoes, chicken, green beans, rolls, and cake to be passed out for lunch. It was a blessing to be the hands and feet of Jesus!

After a full day serving our church communities, we enjoyed a campfire with yummy s’mores and amazing worship under the brightest stars.

We spent our last workday back at Evergreen Baptist Church, where we took inventory and organized a shed. We also finished up organizing one of the rooms in the church!
It was a great last workday!

After hearing that we haven’t tried gumbo, the pastors wife came in to make us some! The food was so yummy, and it was cool to try the local cuisine!

The pastor wanted to take us on a tour of the town, so drove us around DeQuincy -and showed us all the cool spots. We stopped at the railroad museum, and got to see the old station and walk in the old train cars.
It’s such a cool town with lots of history, and it was so nice of Pastor Harris to show us around!

Today we had a recreation day! We went on a swamp tour in the morning. We saw 6 alligators and one was 12 feet long! We also saw osprey and white cranes.
It was a fun end to the trip!

Mati, we often over hear the statement that, "pictures are worth 1000 words". The words that I hear from this picture is, "God is Present". He's there working through you and your big, amazing, beautiful heart and your work is going to have eternal impacts for the kingdom of heaven. Keep up the great work as many of us on the sidelines are cheering you on!
