First Baptist Church Oxford, FL

After several hours of travel, the team made it to Memphis! We had dinner together and went to Sam’s Club to prepare for our ministry tomorrow afternoon. Everyone is very tired but so, so excited for what the Lord is going to do this week!

Pastor Doug was extended the opportunity to preach and encourage our partner, Lake Grove Baptist Church, this morning. He shared an amazing gospel message that touched many in the congregation and was a blessing to Pastor Mickins as well.

Our team and the Lake Grove family came together to provide a meal for the church and their neighborhood, including dozens of homeless persons whom the church family has embraced and loved for a long time.

It was a joy to see how obviously and intentionally these relationships have been built and to be a part of continuing and supporting the work of the local church in Memphis.

After an amazing day of worship and fellowship with our family at Lake Grove, we made our way to Mud Island. This view of Memphis was absolutely beautiful and we had such a sweet time enjoying it together!

Today we went through some parks and general areas around downtown Memphis and handed out blessing bags. By lunch time we only had 5 bags left! The crazy part? We were not originally planning to be in this area of Memphis! The Lord knew who needed the bags and He directed every step! He is so good!

We helped prepare the hot lunches for the homeless guests at St. Vincent De Paul before handing them out. It was fun to see the background of the ministry.

On Tuesday we served alongside St. Vincent De Paul. They have an incredible ministry serving their community by serving food and sharing Jesus! Richard and Brenden were putting together orders of snacks and sandwiches. I think almost everyone chose a bag of cheese balls, haha!

Brother Doug gave a powerful message last night at Calvary Rescue Mission. He reminded us to choose Christ’s way over the way of the world. It’s so powerful to stand together and hear the Word of God!

We are so grateful for this incredible experience in Memphis this week! We can’t wait to take back what the Lord has shown us to our church and community! God has big plans and we are so blessed to be a small part of what He’s doing in Memphis, Tennessee! God’s not done using us in this awesome city! We can’t wait to see what the Lord does next!
