Sunday School and Church Service

by George Kalopisis | March 20, 2022 4:15 PM

We joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church for a great Sunday school lesson, amazing worship, and a message at the church service.

Later we got to fellowship with the congregation and enjoyed some local Po' Boys for lunch. We then were able to enjoy the beautiful afternoon at Pier Lake Park where we played frisbee and walked along the lakeshore.

First Day of Ministry

by George Kalopisis | March 21, 2022 1:45 PM

On our first day of ministry, we’re working at Mt. Olive Baptist Church and are preparing to paint and freshen up the church office space.

Preparing for painting by cleaning, scraping and tapping takes most of the time followed by the actual painting which can be easy once you’ve prepared everything.

The team is doing a great job working together and helping each other in addition to learning new skills.

Preparing for Painting

by George Kalopisis | March 21, 2022 1:50 PM

Tim, Andy, and Jacob have all the right tools and are doing a great job scraping and sanding loose paint off in order to prepare for painting.

With everyone working together as a team it looks like we may get this project completed on our first day and can move on to other work.

Worship Night

We are blessed by multiple musical talents this week who have blessed our group with amazing worship each night.

Serving at Abraham’s Tent

by George Kalopisis | March 23, 2022 8:25 AM

God held back the thunder storm and we safely made it to Abraham’s Tent this morning where we were able to work as a team to prepare and serve meals to the local community. The storm passed over us while we were serving and later, when we were done, the sun came out as we drove to our next project.

Painting the Kitchen

The painting crew has started painting the kitchen after finishing the office space. A fresh coat of paint is really brightening up the space.

Finishing Well

by George Kalopisis | March 23, 2022 4:29 PM

Today we wrapped up our projects at Mt. Olive by putting back all of the knobs on cabinets and all the wall hangings after completing the painting. We finished by organizing the tool shed and throwing out some garbage. Before we left we had an opportunity to pray with our church hosts and ask God to bless their ministry.

Campfire Worship Night

by George Kalopisis | March 23, 2022 10:03 PM

Tonight we were blessed by amazing worship around a campfire, followed by our nightly debrief and then some s’mores.

We saw eagles, alligators, beavers, otters and had some excitement as we got stuck in a foot of marsh.

Crabbing

by George Kalopisis | March 24, 2022 5:27 PM

Lewis and Jacob worked as a team to catch crabs. We ended up catching about a dozen including a couple of babies. This was only catch and release, so all the crabs went back into the water for a second chance.
