Memorial Baptist Church Pasadena

We all landed safely and were starving!!  We found a burrito place to get a little taste of home, fill our bellies, and restore some energy.  Then we'll be off to do some exploring!!

We showed up to church early this morning to help Go Church Ridgefield setup. Many hands make the work go faster!

This morning we get to worship alongside the Washington-based sending church of Go Church PDX.  Go Church PDX is the church plant our home church has been supporting.  

It was such an awesome experience to gather with other believers working together to further the Kingdom in Portland!!

This afternoon we spent some time passing out flyers for our VBS this week!!

We had a busy day today and we are all wiped out from the heat, evidently that Texas heat decided to follow us to Portland for a few days, but we ended the day with a quick tour of the city.  Our tour guide, Wes, told us we couldn't officially say we had been to Portland until we took a group pic here.

Can't wait to see what day 2 brings!! 

Just a little pre VBS with a little game we call ninja!

We helped the kids build volcanos this morning at Kids Camp.  The older kids loved getting messy!!  The younger kids didn't like the mess, but are super excited about making them explode later this week!!

This morning we started off by playing a game called Dead Cat!

This morning after our game, we started our second day of sports camps!! The kids are having so much fun :)

Today in STEM camp we built Lego towers. The tallest tower was built in 15 mins without the group talking wins. Team "Flying Foxes" won. 

Yesterday the winner of our lip sync battle was the girls! We are waiting to see which group shines better today!!

After 2 busy days of Kids Camp, we needed a little rec, so we took an excursion to this beautiful waterfall!!  Some of us stayed at the bottom and enjoyed the ambiance while others decided to make the hike to the top. 

On day three of sports camp, we have our pre-k, 1st, and 2nd graders working on dribbling this morning!

Today we painted our volcanos and then had a little fun with Mentos and Diet Coke.  We're not sure if they enjoyed the experiment more or getting the caffeine afterwards!!  Good thing they head to the sports camp team next.

When you're doing a Kids Camp it takes everyone's unique perspectives and talents to make everything happen smoothly.  Even in the little things like washing paint brushes while everyone moves to the next thing.  We are all learning how all the little things help to make this an awesome experience for all these amazing kids.

The kids have these songs and motions down and are ready for VBS!!

Today we shared with the kids that you can trust Jesus with your life.  Pray for the hearts of these sweet children this week and that seeds will be planted that will change their lives not just for the better, but for eternity.

After dinner tonight, we took sometime tonight to talk about our day and just reflect on what God did today!

We have a long day today and we're all matching, almost, so we needed a quick photo to commemorate the trip.  Pray for renewed energy and that we can finished the week strong!

The kids enjoyed making their volcanos explode today!!  They had a blast!!

For our last day of rec for VBS we treated the kids to a day of water!! They all enjoyed getting to throw water balls at all the adults :)

This sweet boy stole all our hearts this week.  He found this stuffed airplane when he walked through the doors on Monday and held it tight all week.  We were able to let him take it home at the end of the week and his whole face lit up.  We will remember this kid and his friends for years to come!!

We are packed, loaded, and headed home!!
