Worship!

by Jadon Baldwin | June 26, 2022 12:11 PM

After settling in last night, we started our trip with a great night of worship. It was a beautiful moment!

“It’s Home Sweet Home Here in the House of the Lord”

by Jake Headley | June 26, 2022 7:54 PM

“I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord!”” Psalm 122:1 ESV

This morning, we were able to join the congregation of First Baptist Church of Dawson Springs for service. It was such a joy to be with God’s people!

Game On!

This afternoon, we spent time relaxing and playing the game “Nuke ‘Em” together. It was so much fun to bond together in that way!

Stories from the Tornado

by Jadon Baldwin | June 27, 2022 9:11 AM

After church, we were blessed to hear from some members of First Baptist Dawson Springs about their testimony and also their experiences the night of December 10 and the following weeks and months. It helped us understand and connect even more with the people here, and we’re even more excited now to help uplift this community!

“The World Is Run By Those Who Show Up!”

by Jadon Baldwin | June 27, 2022 9:15 AM

And we’re off! Our first work project, a roofing and painting job, has begun! We’re so excited to be working with some people from the community who have been leading the way on this work site.

Making Way for New Beginnings

by Jake Headley | June 27, 2022 11:27 AM

“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43:19‬ ‭ESV‬‬

This morning, we are working to clean up one of the neighborhoods that was heavily impacted by the tornado. It’s been inspiring to see neighbor helping neighbor, churches serving alongside each other, and the light of Jesus shining brightly in the projects we do.

“Godliness with Contentment is Great Gain”

by Jake Headley | June 27, 2022 1:37 PM

During lunch, our leader took time to talk to us about what we’ve seen and the common theme we’ve seen in our conversations with the community: contentment. It is such a joy to rest in the fact that our Savior is enough.

Brick by Brick

by Jake Headley | June 27, 2022 3:02 PM

After lunch, we went to a nearby house whose roof was being replaced due to storm damage. We helped transfer a load of bricks and four layers of shingles to the dumpster. It was a blessing to get to serve them.

Roots Run Deep

by Jake Headley | June 28, 2022 1:53 PM

This morning, we spent time removing a root ball from one of the community members yards. It has been an awesome close up view of God’s creation and the ways that He takes what is bad and turns it into good.

Timber!

by Jake Headley | June 28, 2022 1:55 PM

This afternoon, we returned to the community member’s yard to cut down trees and split logs to clear up her yard. It has been a blessing to see how well our team works together.

Energetic Joy

by Collan McCoy | June 29, 2022 10:39 AM

Each day after work and any other free moment our team gets, they spend playing volleyball or basketball, or cards. They’re such a good team when it comes to making sure everyone is having a great time.

There’s a Fire, Down in My Soul

by Collan McCoy | June 29, 2022 10:40 AM

After finishing our roof for Mr. Jim, our friends Steve and Donna had us over for a bonfire where we were able to play worship music and hear Jake’s testimony. You couldn’t ask for a better Kentucky night.

Painting for The Lord

by Collan McCoy | June 29, 2022 10:42 AM

While some of our team worked on roofing for Mr. Jim, some of the others painted his entire building. Our students were such a blessing to him this week and vice versa.

Be Like Isaac

by Collan McCoy | June 29, 2022 10:45 AM

While some people switched jobs throughout the week, Isaac knew what he wanted to do. He spent all day Monday and Tuesday on top of the roof so Mr. Jim could use his shed before the team left. He even got Pastor Karl on the scaffolding to help all day Tuesday.

Window Work

by Collan McCoy | June 29, 2022 10:49 AM

Ms. Laura is a lady who lost a lot in the storms. To bless her this week, we have been able to help in the construction of her new home and beauty shop.

It’s Like Spring Cleaning… but Summer

by Jake Headley | June 29, 2022 3:42 PM

This afternoon, we are taking time to deep clean the church at which we are staying. It’s a joy and pleasure to give back to this church that has graciously opened its doors to us!

We Found A Mammoth (Cave)

by Jake Headley | June 30, 2022 10:34 PM

“For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In His hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are His also.”

Psalm‬ ‭95:3-4 ESV‬‬

Today, we ventured to Mammoth Cave, the largest known cave system in the world. It was such a joy to be able to relax with friends and to witness and marvel at God’s beautiful creation.

You’ll never realize what your kids (or you) can handle until you stretch them out of their comfort zone a bit. Very proud of this group for stepping up and taking time out of there summer to do God's work. Be safe and drive safely in this crazy 4th of July traffic. God Bless you all.

I’m so proud of all the kids and their leaders for being willing to help do this clean up work!! We don’t understand the full impact it has on these people who have been so overwhelmed by their loss. May God continue to pour out His favor on you all!
