Fellowship Greenville

We arrived in Jackson safely this morning at 10am local time and spent the day settling in, exploring Jackson, and eating at Brent’s Drugs, a fun diner in Jackson! We got briefed on what the week will look like and are excited to serve. 

We have had a wonderful Sunday worshipping and also exploring Jackson. We worshipped at the two different churches that we will serve alongside this week, Griffith Memorial Baptist Church and Hilltop Church! We also ate some wonderful pizza at Sal and Mookies and then went and learned a lot about the Civil Rights Movement, especially within Mississippi, at the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum. 

This morning we woke up and welcomed kids to VBS at Griffith Memorial Baptist Church! We had a blast getting to meet these kids and  serve them at the different stations of crafts, snacks, music, recreation, missions, and Bible time. We look forward to hanging out with them the rest of the week!

This afternoon we worked with Care Center Ministries to paint a house for an elderly lady who is full of God’s love! We got to meet her and pray for her before she left for the afternoon, and then we got to work! Her house is transformed with beautiful new siding and we hope that this will help her to bless others in the future. 

We also took the time to write some of our favorite Bible verses in chalk on her driveway!

We enjoyed our second morning at VBS with Griffith Memorial Baptist Church. We once again rotated to different stations and had fun getting to know the kids! The theme for the lessons today was The Lords Supper. 

After VBS we drove to Rudy and Caroline Bazin’s house for lunch! Rudy is our Praying Pelicans Trip Leader and is originally from Haiti, so he made us a delicious Haitian meal of fried plantains, beef tips, and cole slaw! 

Tuesday afternoon we headed to a parking lot in Jackson where we teamed up with Care Center Ministries to give out free food and free prayer! We also had a water slide for kids in the area. It was a great afternoon of providing such a huge need to people as we got to see the power of God at work. We especially loved getting to pray over so many peoples families and neighborhoods! 

This morning we spent our third day with the kids at VBS! Pastor Andy, the pastor of Griffith Memorial, shared the gospel with the kids to start the day, and then we spent the rest of the day rotating to the different stations. We are sad that tomorrow will be our final day with these kids!

This afternoon we got to finish painting Mother Annie’s house! The most special part of the afternoon was spending time with her in the house, hearing her stories, praying for her, and singing songs! We loved our time with Mother Annie!!

This morning we had our last day with the kids at Griffith Memorial VBS! It was so sweet to share the story of Jesus and His love with these kids through the many different interactions we had with them.
