Anxiously awaiting arrival

Praying Pelican Staff are ready and waiting for the arrival of the team! Stay tuned here and we'll keep you up to date with the team activities this week!

We made it!

by PPM Staff | March 3, 2012 3:22 PM

After a quick flight south, and a tour of Belize City, we stopped off at the oceanside park for lunch. The sun is shining and the breeze is blowing - a quite beautiful day. We are currently at Liberty Children's Home in Ladyville and we will be making our way to La Democracia in the next hour or so. Thank you all for your prayers for safe and uneventful travel. Please keep us in your prayers this week as we parter in ministry with the Belizean people.

Sunday School and Church

by PPM Staff | March 5, 2012 2:18 PM

Our group took part in leading Sunday School for all age groups on Sunday morning. We split into different age groups and taught lessons while learning more about the lives of the Belizeans we have come to partner with. There were two church services on Sunday, one in the morning and one at night. We all participated while some of us helped lead music and other aspects of the services. It was a unique experience and we are grateful for the honor to be partnered with the Baptist Church here in La Democracia this week. We also had an opportunity to travel around the village and meet some of the people here. Belize is a unique and wonderful country, and it is refreshing to learn a bit about this particular area and the lives that people here live.

Monday Morning

by PPM Staff | March 5, 2012 2:26 PM

This morning we were blessed with the opportunity to lead the devotion at the village primary school and help out in the classrooms. While the rain and colder weather kept a handful of the students at home, that didn't stop us from singing songs and speaking into the children's lives. Please take just a moment to pray for the children we ministered to at the school as well as the families they represent.

A little wet, but a lot of fun

by PPM Staff | March 7, 2012 3:03 PM

This week has been rainy, and actually a bit cold. All of our clothes are soaked and our feet just barely slide into our shoes at this point. However, it has still been loads of fun and we have learned so much -about ourselves, about our faith, about our character, about Belize, and about the church as a whole. This week we've been working in a few different places doing a few different things. In the afternoons we have been working on pouring a cement floor for a local family. We completed pouring the cement yesterday and are working on finishing up some bunk beds for the children in the home this afternoon. The village children have been at our sides all week. We have been blessed to share the afternoons with them, playing sports out on the basketball court in the rain and in the sunshine. Yesterday we had the opportunity to visit the Mayan Ruins and take a tour of the old Mayan temples that are still sitting in the middle of the Belizean jungle. We got a tour and climbed to the top of many of the structures. Last night we hosted a youth night at the church. Many youths, young and old, made it out to the church. We played games, put on skits, and sang. Some of us had the opportunity to share our testimony and really get to know some of the youth in the village here in La Democracia. This morning we took a drive down the road to the Belize Youth Hostel -a compound where troubled youth reside and live for a time while they try to sort out their lives. We sang songs, got silly, were able to share testimony, and hang out a bit. We are saying our goodbyes this evening, and will be officially heading home on Friday. Thank you for all of your prayers. Don't hesitate to ask us about our trip to Belize when you see us back home.
