We are Ready to Go!

by Drema Jefferson | June 25, 2022 9:09 PM

We are all here and ready to go! We are excited about the week and the ministry we are going to be a part of. For some of us, it will be a new missions experience and for many, it will be a return to two beautiful partnerships.  We are looking forward to our long-term partnership and making new relationships too.

We are Ready to Go!

Following Christ is a Sacrifice

by Drema Jefferson | June 26, 2022 10:18 AM

This morning we attended service at our partner for the week, Anchor Church. It was so great to be greeted by friendly faces and to see the pastor again! Today he brought the Word as he spoke to us about how following Jesus is often a sacrifice, but when He has called us to go and serve we are to go and not look back.

It's also a bittersweet week as this is Pastor's last Sunday with Anchor. So, we were able to join the church as we prayed over him on his next journey as a new pastor in Surf City, and as we prayed for the new pastor coming in.

Praying Over the City

by Drema Jefferson | June 26, 2022 10:22 AM

After church, we went to the river's edge to pray over the city, the church, for partners, for addictions to be broken, and many other requests. We believe that prayer is powerful and the most important thing we can do this week as we continue serving in the ministry God has called us to.

Mission Trip Reflecting and Visioning

by Drema Jefferson | June 27, 2022 6:57 AM

This afternoon we joined Pastor Phillip as the church put on a going-away celebration. He also spent some time showing the team how far the church and the outreach center have come along since their last visit. The team was super proud of their efforts last year and how different the church and outreach center looks now. It has come a long way!

This week they are helping Pastor Phillip to finish the projects well. We can't wait to get started!

Organizing at First Fruits Pantry

by Drema Jefferson | June 27, 2022 10:05 AM

This morning the teams split up to work at Anchor Church and First Fruits Ministry. Our team worked hard cleaning shelves, moving boxes, and organizing food items.

On the Site

Today we are starting working on a locker space where individuals from the community can keep their belongings safely. It is a joy to be back serving the community in Wilmington!

Planting Fruit for Those in Need

by Drema Jefferson | June 27, 2022 3:03 PM

This afternoon we went to Eden Village which is a tiny home community that supports the homeless. We had the opportunity to work in the garden and re-plant guava pineapple trees. We had a lot of fun digging in the dirt, putting soil down, and planting the fruit knowing that it will all go toward those in need in this community.

Working Hard to be a Blessing in the community

by Drema Jefferson | June 28, 2022 10:01 AM

Today we split up again into two teams. Our team worked at another garden called Willowdale Urban Farm. We picked out weeds, harvested plants, and watered the garden.

We are wanting to be a blessing and a light to the community of Wilmington so that the elderly and those in need have a place to receive fresh fruits and vegetables. We were also thankful that we got to add extra hands and feet to Eden Village Ministries.

Our Fearless Leader from Eden Village

by Drema Jefferson | June 28, 2022 10:04 AM

Meet David! He has been a volunteer and leader of several gardens in Eden Village for many years. He has been able to help so many food insecure families by taking care of the gardens, so he really appreciates when teams come to help them out.

This morning he started our day off with some lessons about growing certain herbs and vegetables. He also showed us around the garden and helped to get us started. He has been such a blessing to us these past two days.

In the Lord's Name

Today we resumed work that was started yesterday. Caulking, painting, nailing, screwing, and more all in the Lord's name.

This morning our team went back to First Fruits to help them distribute food to the homeless community. We sorted food and organized before they came through.

To the Least of These...

by Drema Jefferson | June 29, 2022 12:54 PM

Jesus said what we do to the least of these, we have done it so to Him. We loved serving the community today by giving out groceries and fellowshipping with those in the community. We are reflecting now on how we can bring this back to our community and get more involved there as well.

Back at the Greenhouse and Garden

by Drema Jefferson | June 29, 2022 1:02 PM

After a delicious lunch that Pastor Phillip treated the whole team to this afternoon, our team went back to pull up more weeds, water plants, and plant seeds at Willowdale Farm. It has also been a great time to reflect on the Lord and His goodness to us. We have loved giving back to the community this week and encouraging the local church.

Painting for the Kingdom

by Garrison Hobbs | June 29, 2022 8:50 PM

Today before we began to work, Pastor Phillip did a devotion for us on how to paint. He explained how something as simple as painting can be used to build the kingdom of God. Today we put that into practice, doing all things for God's glory.

The Abbey!

by Garrison Hobbs | June 29, 2022 8:58 PM

Some of the team made a sign for the church that we have been working at all week. Nathaniel and Dyalnie used an old map of Wilmington to create the outline of the name!

Saying Goodbye to Eden Village

by Drema Jefferson | June 30, 2022 12:10 PM

Before we left, we prayed over Eden Village and David. We are going to miss this ministry and being a part of such an incredibly generous ministry.

Fish, Sea Turtles, Stingrays, and More!

by Drema Jefferson | June 30, 2022 12:14 PM

This morning we visited the North Carolina Aquarium at Kure Beach. We saw so many different species of fish, stingrays, sea turtles, sharks, and more. It reminded us of just how beautiful God's creation is as we rested and reflected on the week.

It's Getting Windy!

by Drema Jefferson | June 30, 2022 12:16 PM

Nathaneal thought he would test out hurricane winds and got a taste of how strong the storms can get in these areas.

Last Afternoon at Anchor Church

by Drema Jefferson | June 30, 2022 12:20 PM

After lunch, we headed back to Anchor Church to finish insulating, cleaning, and finishing what we started. We love using our talents for the Lord and decided we would work this afternoon even more to bless Pastor Phillip and Anchor Church before we leave tomorrow morning.

Saying Farewell and Thank You

by Drema Jefferson | July 1, 2022 3:54 PM

That's a wrap! We have thoroughly enjoyed our time here in Wilmington and have worked so incredibly hard this past week. Thank you to our partners, Eden Village, First Fruits, and Anchor Church for being a blessing to us. We can't wait to see how much the community is blessed by all that we were able to accomplish for them this week. It is all for His glory!
