The team made it safely to Kauai! With the four-hour time difference, we thought some coffee was in order. So we made a quick stop at a local shop and are off to the church!

Tonight the team was treated to a potluck dinner with our partner pastors for the week and several church members! It was a wonderful opportunity to meet and chat with the people we are here to support and encourage in ministry!!! Oh, and it was also delicious!!!

We started our day at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church! What a blessing to begin our week with the chance to worship with some of the people we’ll be serving alongside of.

Next, we joined in the service at West Kauai UMC, and were greeted with snacks afterward! It’s been an incredibly welcoming morning, being served and loved well by those we came to serve!

Yesterday was a day of fellowship and preparation for the week ahead, and now it’s time for that prep to give way to action! VBS is underway in Eleele and we can’t wait to serve these kids for the next few days!

In addition to VBS, we got a few work projects started yesterday, including changing floors in one of the church offices!

VBS day 2 is off and running! This group is talking about things that are sometimes hard to do, but God helps us! So far the most frequent tough thing to do is clean bedrooms.

One of our projects this week is building a deck around this beautiful 200-year-old monkeypod tree! The church will be using it to hold Sunday school for the kids and potentially expand it to a second story!

Work continues into the evening on our treehouse deck. Lots of little measurements, but it’s coming along!

Our group got to work BIG TIME to build the framing for this deck. It’s currently being treated with primer and then parishioners will install the deck boards!

As fate would have it, another pastor that lives next door to one of our partner churches owns pizza ovens, so we’re having an end of VBS pizza party on our last night together!
