First Presbyterian Church of San Marcos

We got into Lake Charles Monday afternoon, and got straight to a work project on a Ms. Pearl’s backyard. Her home was destroyed in Hurricane Laura and it is still unlivable. It was a blessing to speak with her and hear her story.  

After lunch, we headed to another home to clean up debris from Maria’s yard. She has been unable to clean it up due to health issues, so this will help her tremendously to avoid the expense of fines.

We had the opportunity to organize all of Operation Hope's supplies after they moved into a new warehouse. It was cool to see the whole team work together and use some of our individual gifts of organization and leadership! 

Our team showed the virtue of commitment as we spent an entire day organizing and counting inventory. While it was tedious work, we were reminded that this will help future teams into Lake Charles tremendously.

On Wednesday night we had the opportunity to hear Brandon’s testimony. Brandon is a community leader in Lake Charles, and helps coordinate projects for Praying Pelican teams through SWLA responds.
