Over here at Mount Olive Baptist Church, we have half of our team serving on the roof! As this is a very important job for damage control, we have a very hard-working group patching up our local church in Lake Charles.

We have been busy pulling up the floor in the family life center. The floor was damaged during the hurricanes. We are pulling everything up, buffing it, and making sure it is ready for new flooring.

This morning we attended our host partner Mount Olive Baptist Church. Following a wonderful worship led by the church’s praise team, Pastor Doug had the opportunity to preach for the congregation. After the service, we got started back on work projects.

This morning we were back on the roof at Mount Olive Church. After all the dips and holes were sealed or repaired, we were able to start the next phase. We mixed up the primer, then began to pour and spread it with rollers. Lucky for us we have a little camp set up on top of the roof to get shade from the sun.

We’ve been working hard to fix uneven areas on the roof. Some spots require more time than others, such as the part that had a tree growing out of it. After these repairs are made with new shingles, we cover them with primer and sealant to prevent any more leaks.

We continued scraping away the old flooring in the family life center at Mount Olive Church. After all the flooring is swept up, we make the concrete floors as smooth as possible by buffing them. Even though this is a repetitive task, we are making great progress!

Today we began sealing the roof. We used buckets of a white silicone sealant and spread it out with paint rollers. We will do 2 coats of this to make sure there are no more leaks at the church!

Once we get back from dinner the boys always start a game of basketball. Somehow they still have enough energy to play after working all day.

Every morning a small group of our team has been starting their day about an hour and a half early, they have been cooking hot breakfast every day!! They cook for around 70 people every morning. This morning we had breakfast tacos!

Every morning after breakfast we start off the day by reciting Titus 3:10-11 and devotions. This time is led by Pastor Doug. It’s always a great way to start the day before our work projects.

After church on Sunday the game began. Each team member was given either a black or a red playing card, that determined the team they were on. The cards had to be clipped onto our water bottles at all times. Throughout the week our goal was to steal the other team's cards as stealthily as possible. If they caught us taking a card, we had to give it back.
