We have arrived safely to our lodging facility in Lake Charles! After a delicious Cajun meal, we had our orientation meeting and have settled in for the night.
We are so excited to see what this week has in store for us!

We had such a great time worshiping with Church of the King. Their ministry has been through a lot in the past year. They are currently meeting in a church gym after their building was destroyed, but they are still actively serving the community!

Bright and early yesterday, we split up into our 3 teams and spread across Lake Charles to do ministry.
One team helped an elderly couple with their overgrown 2 acres of yard. They were so grateful that they kept on bringing us snacks!
Another team tackled Mrs. Tina's backyard. She had a tree fall down during the hurricane, and since then, her backyard had taken over. She was glad to see that "jungle" cleared!
The last group helped Mrs. Williams with her overgrown yard. She was so relieved and thankful for the help!

We have been so busy here in Lake Charles! We split into our teams again this morning and took on many different projects. We helped with yard work, cleared out houses, and repaired a damaged fence.
This afternoon we hit the streets again to assist the Red Cross' efforts of gaining more insight into the effects of the recent flooding. We passed out flyers for them, door to door, to hopefully help them receive aid.
We also helped Church of the King set up for their big food drive that we will be helping with tomorrow morning!
It's been a wonderful week!

This morning we made our way over to Church of the King to assist them in their ministry. The made hot plates for anyone that wanted or needed a free meal. We were even able to take some food to some of the homeowners who we helped serve this week!

What better way to end our week than with a moment of worship, communion, and prayer at the beach?
We had such a great time in Lake Charles and are humbled by the work we were able to do!
