Safe Arrival

by Michael Mayor | June 19, 2021 11:31 PM

We made it down to Jackson. It was a long drive, but we were greeted by the hospitality of our host church. We settled in with some worship and a devotion. We are looking forward to making friends and serving in this community this week!

Prayers for Jackson

by Michael Mayor | June 19, 2021 11:37 PM

We ended our night with prayer as a team. We got to share what was going on in our own hearts as we prepare for this trip as well as pray for this community before we get out there tomorrow. We can't wait to engage with what God is doing here in Jackson!

Sunday Worship

by Michael Mayor | June 20, 2021 11:44 AM

We enjoyed the chance to worship with CityHeart Church this morning. Pastor gave a great message for Father's Day. Resting in our Heavenly Father's arms is the best place to be! We are excited to remember these truths through the week as we offer ourselves and depend on God's faithful rest.

Sharing a Meal

by Michael Mayor | June 20, 2021 2:16 PM

After a wonderful service together, we visited Hilltop Church to eat pizza with the Care Center Ministries. It was a good time of fellowship and prayer with the guys from the Care Center. We are getting excited about Camp Care with week after hearing from Pastor and his wife.

Afternoon Plans

by Michael Mayor | June 20, 2021 7:41 PM

Our team visited the Civil Rights Museum this afternoon. We experienced the sobering experiences in Mississippi history. Afterwards we went shopping to help prepare for this week's Camp Care. Many carts later, we are set for a great week.

Ground Work

by Michael Mayor | June 21, 2021 10:10 AM

We got to meet a wonderful lady today who spends more of her life serving her family and others than herself. It is such a joy to be able to share the love of Jesus with her by helping her renovate her house. Our team had so much fun singing and talking while we worked this morning.

Camp Care Day 1

by Michael Mayor | June 21, 2021 5:19 PM

We started the afternoon with Camp Care. We welcomed a few kids to sing songs and hear stories about Jesus and how He loves us. The kids were so sweet. We are already developing good relationships with them.

Water Slide

by Michael Mayor | June 21, 2021 5:22 PM

We had so much fun enjoying the hot Mississippi sun playing basketball and sliding down the water slide at Camp Care. We all laughed and played, continuing to develop relationships with the kids.

Day 1 Debrief

by Michael Mayor | June 21, 2021 10:55 PM

We ended the day by playing some team-building games and Bible memorization. We are working hard to learn the books of the Bible as well as a variety of Gospel-focused verses as we continue to engage in relationships this week. We love growing as a team and connecting with the community!

Morning Devos

by Michael Mayor | June 22, 2021 10:43 AM

We were led in a great morning devotion during breakfast. As we continue walking through the book of 1 John, Izaiah and Gage shared with us the importance in abiding in Jesus. It was a great way to start the morning!

Math and Puzzles

by Michael Mayor | June 22, 2021 7:42 PM

When we started our service time today, we had no idea how much we would get to experience. We spent the morning laying the floor for our new friends. We all learned a lot more geometry than we expected. Math definitely does come in handy in real life!

Divide and Conquer

by Michael Mayor | June 22, 2021 7:50 PM

Though some of the group stayed behind to finish some handy work at the house, the rest of us went to Camp Care again this afternoon to spend more time sharing God's love to kids. We had more students come today too! We loved seeing them again along with some new faces. These kids are so adorable and we can't wait to meet even more tomorrow!

Powerful Prayers pt1

by Michael Mayor | June 22, 2021 7:52 PM

Part of our team had the awesome opportunity to pray over FaceTime for the oldest daughter of the homeowner who is in the hospital. We were so blessed to share in this moment with her!

Fun in the Sun

by Michael Mayor | June 22, 2021 7:55 PM

Camp Care wouldn't be complete without some time in the water under the hot Mississippi sun. After we got to hear more Bible stories with the kids, we spent time playing and building relationships with games and water time.

Powerful Prayers pt2

by Michael Mayor | June 22, 2021 8:02 PM

After we finished our time at the house, we got to spend some time in prayer over the house and the family. Though we enjoyed the opportunity we had to build up the house this week, we had an even more amazing time building relationships with these wonderful people.

Refeshing Water

by Michael Mayor | June 22, 2021 8:06 PM

Once we got back to our host church, we got to help distribute water bottles to the community. We made signs to help pull people in to meet new friends. It is a small reminder of the way Jesus refreshes us with His Spirit.

Powerful Prayers pt3

by Michael Mayor | June 22, 2021 8:08 PM

Each case of water came with a prayer for a family. We met many people to whom we were able to share some encouragement and prayer with tonight during the water distribution.

A Big Thank You

by Michael Mayor | June 22, 2021 8:14 PM

Our team was tired but still eager to serve so we helped paint the choir room for our host church to say thank you for the wonderful hospitality that we received this week! It feels like such a small blessing in return for all we have been given this week!

A Big Thank You

Abundantly Blessed

by Michael Mayor | June 23, 2021 10:31 AM

We began our morning service helping to prepare for the food distribution. Care Center was blessed with a few large trailer fulls of food to distribute to community members in need. We can't wait to meet and pray with these people.

Filling Boxes with Nourishment

by Michael Mayor | June 23, 2021 10:44 AM

Part of preparation comes with filling the food boxes. We worked in assembly line fashion to stuff these boxes with a temporary nourishment that we hope reflects the spiritual nourishment we find in the Savior.

Open the Floodgates

by Michael Mayor | June 23, 2021 3:57 PM

The cars were lined up early to receive the support of food that Care Center and Hilltop Church were able to provide through the food pantry. Our team was eager to help out and pray with each recipient of food today. We also had the opportunity to invite many more kids to Camp Care this afternoon for one last day with the kids.

A Holy Helper

by Michael Mayor | June 23, 2021 4:03 PM

During Camp Care this afternoon, Pastor came to share about how the Holy Spirit can be a helper and lifesaver in our lives. He gave a good illustration and gave our team some fun topics of conversations with the kids.

Youth Night

by Michael Mayor | June 23, 2021 7:01 PM

Tonight we got to join in with another youth group from our host church. We got to eat with some church members, play games with the teens, and listen to a Bible study. It was a good way to end our service time this week. We are looking forward to learning more about Jackson tomorrow during our Fun Day!

Exploring Jackson

by Michael Mayor | June 24, 2021 10:01 AM

We raced around Jackson to see some famous sights in this place! Our team split into 2 groups to cover the city and take pictures around town. We had a blast learning even more about this historic city of Jackson. One of these stops was the Bean which is a Jackson favorite!

Good Ole Mississippi Meal

by Michael Mayor | June 24, 2021 2:05 PM

We enjoyed a meal at Cock of the Walk restaurant. We had some good Mississippi fried cooking. We practiced cornbread flipping and ate fried catfish. Good conversations before we head off to go kayaking.

Worship Night

by Michael Mayor | June 24, 2021 8:51 PM

We ended the week with some powerful worship at City Heart Church. It was an incredible way to close the week with so many friends we served with during this trip. The Lord truly moved in our lives and hearts this week. It was wonderful to end praising his name. However, it is always difficult to say goodbye to the many friends we have grown so close to.

Sad Farewells

by Michael Mayor | June 25, 2021 8:57 AM

We enjoyed one last breakfast of Southern food here in Jackson. We are all tired and a little sad. This will be a week we will all remember for a long time. So many new friends here in Jackson. We can't wait to come back and visit!
