We've Arrived!

by Annie Bost | January 19, 2023 12:15 PM

Our group has all landed in Israel and are settling in tired, but excited to be together here in the Holy Land. We are entering this trip thankful for this group, the rest of PPM, and for the opportunity to experience together the sites where Jesus did His ministry and established the Church.

We've Arrived!

First Morning!

by Annie Bost | January 20, 2023 12:56 AM

After a night of great and much-needed sleep, our team ate breakfast at our guest house in Tiberias, enjoying our meal and meeting together within view of the Sea of Galilee.

Jim shared the story of this trip, one that has been in the works for years. We couldn't imagine a more perfect time, here in the Holy Land celebrating the beginning of PPM's 20th anniversary of building up, encouraging, and assisting the local Church!

First Morning!

Tabgha

by Annie Bost | January 20, 2023 3:03 AM

This morning, we visited Tabgha, an area close to the Sea of Galilee that is the area where Jesus called the fishermen, reinstated Peter, and much more.

Learning from Pastor Doug

by Annie Bost | January 20, 2023 3:06 AM

Pastor Doug is PPM's board president and a long-time friend of the organization. He is one of several pastors on the trip and we have loved learning from him this morning about the area and its significance!

The Sea of Galilee

by Annie Bost | January 20, 2023 4:23 AM

Nearby, our group was able to walk down and spend some time on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. It is amazing to be in the areas where Jesus walked and taught and performed miracles!
The Sea of Galilee

Capernaum

by Annie Bost | January 20, 2023 4:41 AM

Our team then visited Capernaum, the town where many of Jesus' miracles were performed and where the Apostle Peter lived. There are many ruins of the ancient town there.

Also, that is Pastor Lloyd Stanford, the founding partner pastor of PPM! He and his wife have joined us from Belize along with several other staff and PPM friends from there.

Gathering by the Sea

by Annie Bost | January 20, 2023 4:45 AM

We had a moment to gather together to learn a bit about Capernaum while overlooking the Sea of Galilee. As we walk where Peter lived, it's amazing to be in the places where the early Church was established and did its ministry. That passion to uplift the Church in its calling is at the heart of what we do.

Bethsaida and the Mount of the Beatitudes

by Annie Bost | January 20, 2023 11:57 AM

We then stopped by Bethsaida, where several disciples were from and where Jesus did many miracles. The area is filled with ruins that we could walk throughout, being so close to areas where disciples lived and where David spent time.

After Bethsaida, we spent some time at the Mount of the Beatitudes, where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount. It was beautiful and we got to spend some time together there to reflect on what we had seen.

Pastor Bishara

by Annie Bost | January 20, 2023 12:07 PM

Our local pastoral partner, Pastor Bishara, and his wife joined us for dinner and then shared with us at our evening meeting. They have a huge heart for the communities in this area and are leading the way for an outreach we are doing tomorrow in a small village. We loved hearing his and his wife's vision and passion for all to know Christ!

Saturday Morning

by Annie Bost | January 21, 2023 1:10 AM

We started this morning off with a word from PPM president, Jim Noreen, and some worship led by several PPM staff from Belize. We are looking forward to spending the day with Pastor Bishara, his wife, and several of their leaders doing outreach!

Saturday Morning

Ministry Leaders

by Annie Bost | January 21, 2023 5:34 AM

Upon arrival in the village, we heard from Pastor Bishara, his wife, and several leaders they work with and who partner with their outreach ministry regularly. They are so glad to have our team here today to pray over, visit, and encourage this community that they love!

Packing Boxes!

by Annie Bost | January 21, 2023 5:36 AM

Our team then packed up over 50 boxes of groceries for distribution to community members! Several of them will go out with our team today while others will remain with the ministry for future blessing.

Kids and Youth Ministry

by Annie Bost | January 21, 2023 9:20 AM

After lunch, the team spent time with some children and youth from the community. The team working with the kids performed a skit about the resurrection of Jesus while others built relationships with the youth. Then we all joined together for some songs - we all had a blast!

by Annie Bost | January 21, 2023 9:22 AM

Throughout the morning and afternoon, different teams went out into the community with Pastor Bishara and his ministry leaders to spend time with families, bless them with boxes of food, and pray for them. It was so great to spend time getting to know people and getting out into the neighborhood!

Sharing a Testimony

by Annie Bost | January 22, 2023 11:52 AM

PPM's VP of Operations, Laura, shared an amazing testimony of God's faithfulness and goodness to her and her family. It was a powerful reminder to not limit what God can do and pray bigger prayers than we think we can!

Mt. Tabor

by Annie Bost | January 22, 2023 11:57 AM

After that awesome time with the church, the group headed up to Mt. Tabor, which is the site of the Transfiguration of Jesus. It was so beautiful and impactful to be in this incredible place.

Devotional Time

by Annie Bost | January 22, 2023 12:00 PM

While at Mt. Tabor, Pastor Reggie shared an incredible word about both the Transfiguration and the miracle at the wedding in Cana. Our God is intentional, humble, and relentless in His pursuit to show us who He is and how much He loves us.

Monday Morning

by Annie Bost | January 23, 2023 3:31 AM

This morning, as we packed up to leave the guest house in Tiberias, we spent some time praying over the city that has been our home for the last few days. We prayed that God would provide for them and that they would come to know Jesus. We know He has amazing plans for this nation!

Monday Morning

Boat Ride

by Annie Bost | January 23, 2023 3:40 AM

We then had the opportunity to take a boat out on the Sea of Galilee! We have loved seeing the water from afar every day since we arrived, and it was incredible to be out on the water together.

Walking in Jerusalem

by Annie Bost | January 25, 2023 7:03 AM

Our team put a lot of miles on our feet today as we walked through the Old City of Jerusalem. The Old City is made up of four quarters - Christian, Armenian, Muslim, and Jewish. We covered them all today!

Walking in Jerusalem

Temple Mount

by Annie Bost | January 25, 2023 7:08 AM

Our first stop was the Temple Mount. This area is where Abraham prepared to sacrifice Isaac and the site where the large Jerusalem temple from Jesus' day was. This area is highly disputed, holding huge significance for the Christian, Jewish, and Muslim faiths.

Western Wall

by Annie Bost | January 25, 2023 7:09 AM

Nearby, our team spent some time at the Western Wall, which is where those in the Jewish faith believe you can draw near to the Divine Presence of God.

Church of the Holy Sepulchre

by Annie Bost | January 25, 2023 7:16 AM

After that, many in our team broke into smaller groups to explore at our own pace. Most of our team spent some time today at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, a large cathedral built on what they believe is the site where Jesus was buried.

Thursday Morning

by Annie Bost | January 26, 2023 3:37 AM

We began this morning at an overlook by the Mount of Olives and Mount of Ascension. It was a beautiful way to see so much of a city that we've loved exploring and learning about the past couple of days. It has been incredible to see the physical places where Jesus lived and did His ministry.

Thursday Morning

Learning About the Area

by Annie Bost | January 26, 2023 3:39 AM

We heard a few words and Scripture readings from Pastor Doug as we stood in the places where Jesus prayed and ascended to heaven.
Learning About the Area

Chapel of the Ascension

by Annie Bost | January 26, 2023 3:43 AM

We then visited a small chapel nearby, where this rock is housed. They believe this rock is where Jesus' heel rested as he was called up to heaven. We spent some time in this space worshipping and giving thanks for the promises that He is always with us and that He will return!

Mary's Tomb

by Annie Bost | January 26, 2023 3:45 AM

We then visited Mary's Tomb, where she was laid to rest. It was filled with beautiful art, an area to view the tomb, and ornate altars.

The Garden of Gethsemane

by Annie Bost | January 26, 2023 3:48 AM

After that, we visited the Garden of Gethsemane. There were olive trees there that have been grafted to prolong their lives - the priests there believe they are 2000 years old. The chapel was beautiful as well and was full of music and prayer as we were there during a service.

A Message from Pastor Lloyd

by Annie Bost | January 26, 2023 3:53 AM

We heard a short word from Pastor Lloyd about Jesus' willingness to do the will of the Father. We have loved hearing from the pastors on this trip and are grateful for them sharing their hearts!

The Garden Tomb

by Annie Bost | January 26, 2023 12:07 PM

In the afternoon, we visited the Garden Tomb, another site that has Biblical backing that suggests that it may be the site of Jesus' crucifixion and burial. It had beautiful grounds and a place that was very conducive to reflecting on the death of Jesus and the empty tomb.

Inside the Tomb

by Annie Bost | January 26, 2023 12:09 PM

Our group was able to enter in to see the empty tomb. It was deeply meaningful for us to be in this space.

Worshipping at St. Anne's

by Annie Bost | January 27, 2023 6:27 AM

After the Garden Tomb, our team had some time to explore on our own. There was a group of us that went to the Church of St. Anne's, which houses the birthplace of Mary and the Pools of Bethesda, where Jesus healed the paralytic man. The chapel there was beautiful and had incredible acoustics, so our group spent some time praising God together for all we have seen during this trip.

Church of the Nativity

by Annie Bost | January 27, 2023 6:30 AM

This morning, we visited Bethlehem, in Palestine. Our first visit was to the Church of the Nativity, which is the oldest church in Israel.

The Shepherd's Field

by Annie Bost | January 27, 2023 6:33 AM

We then visited the Shepherd's Field, where the local shepherds were visited by angels who told them of the coming of Jesus, sending them out to share the great news!

Emmanuel, God with Us

by Annie Bost | January 27, 2023 6:36 AM

Pastor Reggie then shared a message, reminding us how mind-blowing it is that God would chose to love us so much to come in the form of a baby who had nothing and needed everything. And it is now our directive to not sit on the knowledge of who He is and how much He loves us, but to do as the shepherds did and share the news!
Emmanuel, God with Us

Shabbat Meal

by Annie Bost | January 27, 2023 12:06 PM

As the last thing we did together as a team, we gathered with some other believers from around the world for a Shabbat meal. This highly symbolic dinner is how Jewish families begin their Sabbath time on Friday evenings. It was such a special way to end a trip that has meant so much to all of us! We are truly grateful to God for the ways we were able to rest in Him and experience such tangibility of the truth of His love for us.
