A Great Day of Service!

by Tim deForest | March 1, 2022 3:39 PM

Here is just a small part of our team having an awesome day serving. We are helping set up a giant flea market for Impact Church.

We Did It!

The team is doing a great job of serving the Lord with smiles!

But First, Pray

by Morgan Shepherd | March 1, 2022 11:26 PM

Part of our team went to the Faith Center today. The center has a food distribution ministry five days a week and serves about fifty cars each day. They receive many other various donations that they are able to bless the community with as well. We started our day off with a devotion and prayer before we jumped into the action!

But First, Pray

His Abundance Overflows

by Morgan Shepherd | March 1, 2022 11:33 PM

We split our group at the Faith Center into two and one half helped with the food distribution. We packed up carts full of food and goodies to prepare for the cars to start arriving. It was such a blessing to see the quality and variety of items these families would be receiving.

Using the Gifts God Has Given Us

by Morgan Shepherd | March 1, 2022 11:51 PM

One of the items each family received was fresh-cut flowers. While all of the food went into their trunk, we handed those bouquets directly to the driver and then asked if we could pray for them. We were each challenged to pray for at least one family!

Many of the families that came spoke only Spanish, and Nick jumped right in and took over helping to translate, check-in the families, and pray over them in their native tongue. The Lord was able to use Nick’s willingness to serve and his gift of bilingualism in order to better reach and love on the people that we met today!

Organizing for the Reopening

by Morgan Shepherd | March 2, 2022 12:00 AM

The Faith Center is in the process of reopening their building, which has been closed since Covid, for people to come in and ‘shop’ for items other than the food, so the other half of our group worked in the back of the warehouse doing many organization and cleaning projects to help the process along!

Joy to the Lord!

by Tim deForest | March 2, 2022 4:23 PM

Look at the progress we have made setting up for the flea market this weekend. All proceeds from this flea market go directly to the urban ministries of Houston.  It was an honor for all of us to be a small part of this ministry.  The team served the Lord with kindness!

Packing the Essentials

by Morgan Shepherd | March 3, 2022 9:43 AM

On Wednesday, a new group went to the Faith Center. We got to help with food distribution again, along with other organizational tasks they had for us. Whether or not someone comes with an appointment, they will receive at least a bag full of essential, non-perishable foods like beans, rice, and peanut butter.

Clothe Yourself with Kindness

by Morgan Shepherd | March 3, 2022 9:48 AM

Faith Center has a lot of clothing donations that they haven’t been able to allow people to come in and ‘shop’ for (everything is given away) in a while. We were happy to help sort through, organize, and fold some clothes!

Last But Not Least, Pray

by Morgan Shepherd | March 3, 2022 9:54 AM

Before we said our goodbyes, we formed small groups with the employees and volunteers of Faith Center and spent some time in prayer with them. It was a really sweet moment and we could feel the presence of the Lord in the room.

Helping Feed Families

This morning, our whole team is helping out at the Houston Food Bank, the largest food bank in the U.S. We are packing family food boxes!

Pete the Pallet Puller

Once a pallet gets a stack of boxes four high, it’s time for a new one. We have another team operating the pallet jacks!

The Houston Food Bank

by Tim deForest | March 3, 2022 10:17 PM

Our final morning of service was spent at the Houston Food Bank!  The team packed 17 pallets full of food to be distributed throughout Houston. What an unbelievable effort and blessing!

Down by the Sea

by Tim deForest | March 3, 2022 10:23 PM

Our final afternoon was spent enjoying God‘s creation and building stronger relationships down by the sea!

Riding into the Sunset

by Tim deForest | March 3, 2022 10:30 PM

We ended the day going from ride to ride at the Kemah boardwalk.  We all came home tired, sandy, a bit worn out, and bonded for life.

by Morgan Shepherd | March 4, 2022 1:29 PM

Just like that, we are off and heading back home! We are thankful for this week full of ministry, fun, and friends and are excited to find ways to serve back at home. Until next time, Houston!
