Kenilworth Union Church

The first part of our team got in yesterday morning, after getting into the church we set up our home base for the week. In the photo below our team is creating invitations to our kids camp this week! We are crafting and making notes for the meal kits we will pass out this week! 

After a great church service and lunch, we began our week of ministry by helping out at the church's free closet held outside for people to drop by and get what they need. We also helped sort their donations by season! 

Started off the day circled in prayer over our projects for today and over the rest of our team traveling here today! Excited to have them here. 

Lunch was provided by the incredible members of Turn Church! We are so grateful for them!

We continued today with Turn Church's free closet for the community.  We had lots of people stop by and chat!  It was an awesome way to engage the community. 

YAY! So excited our team is finally here! They hit the ground running and got straight to work. So glad to have them here. 

This morning we got right to work alongside some of the members of the church. In this picture, we are helping replace a doorknob and learning along the way! 

Wish we would have had a before and after! After two days we are wrapping up our work on the nursery! Our nursery team is dedicated and loves providing a place for the church to love on the babies in the congregation! 

The past two days have involved lots of paint! Continued painting in the chapel and in the baptistry! Even sanding and repainting their cross! 

This morning we're wrapping up projects at Turn Church and painting the doors! 

Exciting time! The church had a sign painted, but hadn't got it up near the road yet. So our team got to making sure it would stay firm for years to come! Weatherproofing the sign and concrete in the base should keep it up for years to come. 

Our team hosted a kid's block party at Turn Church to wrap up kid's camp. We celebrated with a grill out, a final kid's camp lesson, and a bouncy house. 

We spent the first part of our last day touring and learning about the area! We spent time learning about the past of the Greenwood District of Tulsa, primarily the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921, using a self guiding app. 

We were able to connect with Pastor Tiller and First Lady Latricia before the team left town. We walked through the building and showed them all our hard work. We can't thank them enough for how trusting they were to let us serve their church and trust all these kids from Chicago with their church.
