Welcome to San Diego!

by Adam McLane | May 19, 2019 4:46 PM

The team arrived hungry, so the only logical thing to do was get In-N-Out, right?

Welcome to San Diego!

What a full day we’ve had! After we crossed the border we visited Friendship Park where we met Hector, a deported veteran who taught us about the plight of people who have served the US military but are not barred from the country they once served.

From there we drove down the coast to Ensenada and got settled in at our host church, Monte Sinai. We had dinner at the church and then went to a soccer game to cheer for Pastor Luis’s son Isaac. He scored 3 goals and they won 3-1.

After that we went over to the embarcadero and enjoyed the fountains before heading back to the church where we prayed for our ministry this week and collapsed in bed!

First day in Termoeléctrica

by Adam McLane | May 21, 2019 1:16 AM

Such an awesome day meeting Pastor Manuel and his wife, Graciela. (And their kids Victoria and Santiago.)

today we had the opportunity to deliver food to two families in the community, get to know each of them, and pray with them. It was awesome to see each of the students taking risks and sharing/praying along the way. My favorite moment was Julia giving a little boy a donut and watching him do his “donut dance!” He was so happy!

After lunch we had the opportunity to play with the kids a little and that was super fun, can’t wait to get to know them all a little better when we go back tomorrow.

Food distribution

by Adam McLane | May 21, 2019 7:24 PM

One of our core ministries is food distribution. Each day Pastor Manuel identifies a family in the community to receive a gift basket full of really nice groceries. Today we visited Sofia, a woman who is suffering from vertigo. After getting to know her we had the opportunity to pray with her and deliver the gifts. What fun it was when a few hours later her niece came by the church to thank us.

Capstone to a great ministry day

by Adam McLane | May 23, 2019 8:15 AM

On Wednesday we had a great day of ministry with Pastor Manuel. We worked on the drywall for the kids area, delivered a care package to a new mom, and taught David & Goliath at kids ministry.

After dinner we had the opportunity to participate in a prayer service at our host church. Elle, Avery, and Julia did a worship song and Keagan shared a story before the whole team helped prayer for the needs of the community.

Meeting practical needs

by Adam McLane | May 23, 2019 8:17 AM

One of the projects we did this week was help Pastor Manuel hang drywall in the kids room. This was a great way to do something practical alongside our church partner.
