Central Presbyterian Youth

After a long drive, we arrived safely to our lodging last night. We are excited to start construction ministry this morning! 

Today we did construction work in a house that was affected by flooding following hurricane Florence. We worked on tearing out drywall and insulation from the ceiling and walls so that the interior can be rebuilt as soon as possible. 

We spent the morning working on construction at the same house as yesterday. While some of the team worked on pulling out more drywall and insulation inside, the rest of us bagged up insulation and debris outside. We filled almost thirty bags! 

In the afternoon, we helped out at a diaper bank in Wilmington. A third of families in North Carolina struggle to be able to afford diapers, so the diaper bank gives packages of diapers to families in need. 

After we finished tearing everything in the house down to the studs, we got to write prayers, Bible verses, and encouragement on the studs, as well as praying over the house and the family that lives there. 

We finished up our last morning of construction with a few hours of detail work at a different house than the one we’ve been at all week. It’s not easy work, but it is so worth it!
