Painesville Crew has arrived!

by Janet Buchanan | June 15, 2019 9:10 PM

Tradition has it that the van we take on our Mission trip must break down at some point!  This year we were just one hour away from our Mission site in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We are all excited about being here and look forward to our ministries in this community.

Sunday at Greenstone Methodist Church

by Janet Buchanan | June 16, 2019 8:52 PM

Today started off with a good breakfast and then we met with Brittany, the director of “The Cove” ministry. She shared with us her vision for sharing Christ with their community. Next we went into the sanctuary for a prayer walk before church. This beautiful 100 year old traditional church is going through some difficult times, but are coming up with some untraditional ways to share Christ with their community.

Serving the homeless at Daily Bread

by Janet Buchanan | June 16, 2019 9:09 PM

This afternoon we had the privilege of serving the homeless at a ministry called Daily Bread. Brother Bob  called today, “Cod Father Day”!  Sounded strange at first, until we learned we would be cooking 130 cod fish (at least a foot long) that had been donated to the ministry. The men and women were so appreciative of an unexpected fish fry.  After cleaning up, Doug and Janet took us to Randyland. Randy Gilson bought Randyland on a credit card in 1995. Every day after waiting tables, he came home to paint and bring happiness to his neighborhood. Now people travel all over to share his dream. This place is hard to describe, but one you will never forget!

North View Heights Community

by Janet Buchanan | June 17, 2019 9:14 PM

Working at North View Heights is one of the main ministries we prepared for on this mission trip. When we arrived the children greeted us with open arms. We played games, covered the sidewalks with chalk art, told the creation story, made crafts, served popcorn and homemade cookies, and last but not least enjoyed eating dinner with them that was provided by the Kids Meal Network.

by Janet Buchanan | June 19, 2019 2:16 PM

North Side Common Ministries helps homeless men have a place to stay at night and helps them find jobs and housing. They also have a food distribution ministry, (one of the largest in Pennsylvania), and they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. We helped in the kitchen prepare lunch, painted two rooms, and worked in food distribution area, as well as walk the pet dog Ann.

So proud of this group of kids. You are willing to give your time, use your talents and be used outside of your comfort zone, all for the glory of God. And pretty proud of the leaders as well who were willing to give and sacrifice for this mission. Praying for you all to be used in a mighty way. Praying for safety. And praying Gods blessings all over this trip for everyone involved.
