Off to Alto Jabui!

by Anna Morgan | May 28, 2019 12:34 PM

We made it up the mountain yesterday! The Lord is already up to amazing things in Alto Jabui. It is sweet to be back for many of us. The hike was hard, but we were prepared with our rubber boots, water bottles, and the motto "RESPECT THE FORREST!"

Concrete Work

by Anna Morgan | May 28, 2019 2:14 PM

We've been busy making floors for pastor's house. Pastor and his work team did a lot of prep work to make sure it would be ready for us to bring our man power and get the home done for him.  We are honored to be a part of this project. Pastor walks hours each week in order to do ministry here. We get to be involved in the making of his home, so that he and his family have a place of their own in Alto Jabui while they are pastoring this community.

Home Visits and Prayer

by Anna Morgan | May 28, 2019 2:17 PM

The sights you see while going door to door here are breath-taking! We spent the morning visiting homes, meeting families in the community, and offering prayer.

Barber Shop!

by Anna Morgan | May 28, 2019 2:18 PM

Garrett brought his hair-cutting ministry up the mountain this year. He does this as a ministry at FBC Newcastle and knew it would be just as effective and eternally impacting in this community. Guys, including staff, have been blessed by free haircuts, prayer, and personal ministry.

A little dirt doesn't hurt

by Anna Morgan | May 28, 2019 2:20 PM

What could be better than playing soccer in the mud with new friends? We don't know. We are having a blast getting a little more dirty and trying to win a soccer game.

Women's Ministry

by Anna Morgan | May 28, 2019 2:21 PM

Oh, how we love women's ministry in this community. Women walk from all over to gather in a hot, humble building to learn more about Jesus, develop community, and make a craft. It's a beautiful time!

VBS!

by Anna Morgan | May 28, 2019 2:23 PM

VBS Day #1 is in the books. We've loved seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones. We are pumped to pour into these children, teach them about our Savior, and have fun along the way!

Prayer is Powerful!

by Anna Morgan | May 28, 2019 2:24 PM

We believe in the power of prayer. We believe in the power of our God to do more than we can ask or imagine. We believe in the miracle-working God. We feel privileged to hear people's stories and lift them up to the God who cares.
Prayer is Powerful!

The Heart

by Anna Morgan | May 28, 2019 2:26 PM

We were able to sit and listen to Pastor Amado's story. His story and heart for these people's becomes our heart. He loves the people of Alto Jabui deeply and desires revival for them. We get to be an extension of his church this week.

Food Distribution

by Anna Morgan | May 28, 2019 2:29 PM

Do you see those bright green bags? We are loaded up with bags to take to the homes in the community.  Going to each home requires a trek in between. It's a labor of love to carry around those bags to give to each family.  We hope and pray they know that our group represents Christ's love for them, that He sees them and He knows them.

Drills and Buckets

by Anna Morgan | May 28, 2019 2:31 PM

We are preparing the water filters and getting ready to take them out into the community. These are precious gifts to the people of Alto Jabui.  Currently, they use the local creek for their drinking and bathing water, along with animals. Many people become sick because of bacteria in the water. We will be able to give filters to families, explain how to use them, and to share the Gospel in the process.  The family should have clean drinking water for years to come!

Working Hard

by Anna Morgan | May 29, 2019 4:02 PM

Day 1 of construction is complete. We pushed hard and got a lot of work done.

We are working alongside the locals, learning their way as we go!

Mixing Concrete

by Anna Morgan | May 29, 2019 4:03 PM

This is the way we work in the jungles of Costa Rica - water, sand, cement, and shovels (and don't forget sweat)! It's hard work! Of course we are having fun throughout the process.

Smooth as butter

by Anna Morgan | May 29, 2019 4:04 PM

We are finishing the freshly set floor, making sure they are as smooth and level as possible.

Testimonies

by Anna Morgan | May 29, 2019 4:05 PM

During the church service in the jungle, many of us were able to share our testimonies with the congregation. What a privilege it is to share our stories in hopes that it will encourage, speak truth to, and shine the Gospel into this community.

Service in the Jungle

by Anna Morgan | May 29, 2019 4:07 PM

We were able to be a part of a church service in the jungle. What an amazing time! The church building is dimly lit by a generator that they only use when necessary. Garrett was able to share a sermon that God laid on his heart.

3 Languages under 1 God

by Anna Morgan | May 29, 2019 4:09 PM

Our team was able to lead some songs in worship during the church service. At least 3 languages were represented at the service: English, Spanish, and the native tribal language of those who have lived in Alto Jabui. It's humbling and incredible to think that God knows, hears, understands, and desires to be worshipped in all languages by all people.

This is how Jesus changed my life...

by Ioshy Montes Chacon | May 30, 2019 5:24 PM

All our stories have a before and an after, each one of them unique in their own way but there’s one detail we all share, we were all saved by the same person, saved by the same blood that was shed on the cross so that we could live, we all had our lives  changed by Jesus.

Jesus is our Testimony.

This is how Jesus changed my life...

Pastor’s House

by Ioshy Montes Chacon | May 30, 2019 5:29 PM

Pastor Amado walks for two hours to get to Alto Jabui and then three more hours for service at Alto Cohen, we are so happy to bless Pastor Amado and his family with a new home at Alto Jabui. God is faithful to his children!

Goodbye Visits

by Ioshy Montes Chacon | May 30, 2019 6:02 PM

Last day at Alto Jabui, we can’t believe the trip is almost over! So sad we have to leave but we’re so grateful that God allowed us to share one more time and we feel so privileged to be part of His plan for Alto Jabui! Before leaving Alto Jabui we made goodbye visits to pray and thank once again these people for their hospitality, their hard work and their love, God has blessed us so so much through them!

Fresh water for everyone!!!

by Ioshy Montes Chacon | May 31, 2019 7:53 AM

Finally delivered the water filters to the families from Alto Cohen! We couldn’t make it all the way up to Alto Cohen so we had to meet them on the way there but still had a great time, we got to talk with them and pray all together over the filters. They were very grateful and exited to have fresh water at home!

Fresh water for everyone!!!

Praying for Alto Jabui!

by Ioshy Montes Chacon | May 31, 2019 8:13 AM

Before hiking back to Carbon we gathered all together to lift up our hand to the Lord and pray over Alto Jabui, pray for the church, the Pastor and the community! We know God will continue working in this place through this wonderful community so that many more souls would be saved. We were able to witness everything He has done there these two years, how strong these people’s faith and love for Jesus has become and we look forward to continue growing and sharing with them!

Rec-Day!!!

by Ioshy Montes Chacon | May 31, 2019 6:04 PM

After a long week of hard work is time to relax! We went to Cahuita National Park, saw monkeys and sloths and of course the beach!! Enjoyed the water and had races (don’t be tricked by the picture, Jonny had the lead because he cheated!). Then we went to Puerto Viejo to have lunch, go shopping and walk by the beach! Now is time to go back and pack our things to head home!
