Welcome to Haiti

by Staff | June 4, 2011 7:31 PM

The team made it from America to Haiti today, through the airport and into the muggy Haitian air. They were greeted by the PPM staff and welcomed with a smile! They got to see quite a bit of Port-au-Prince while driving to their new home base for the week. Everyone is looking forward to a great week of serving here in Haiti. They had a wonderful first meal of beef with rice and beans before having the orientation meeting reminding them of what to expect and what is expected of them while they are serving here. They were introduced to all of the PPM staff, each other, and Pastor Samson. Now, it is time to rest up for church in the morning! Ready for a great week of ministry. We will be posting pictures tomorrow!

First full day!

by Team | June 5, 2011 9:03 AM

Today is our first full day in Haiti and we are enjoying every minute of it! This morning, we took part in a 3 hour church serve that was nothing short of amazing. We couldn't speak the language, but it was clear that the Lord was present. From the heart felt worship to the passionate preaching, we left wanting more. We also were able to share in testimony and song. It was a wonderful experience for all of us. This afternoon we are going to have a chance to love on the children of the community that we are serving in. Please continue to pray for us!

Wonderful Monday!

by Team | June 6, 2011 7:45 PM

It was refreshing to wake up today excited to and serve...on a Monday! We couldn't wait to get out to our site for the first time. We are working to build a house for Deacon Pierre in the community of Gressier. He has a family of 9 and they lost their home in the earthquake. We spent the day working on the foundation passing bucket after bucket of concrete. Mixed in with all of the hard work was a lot of relationship building. The people of Haiti are truly a blessing to know! Please continue to pray for us as we participate in school ministry tomorrow as well as continue our work!

A Couple of Grand Days!

by team | June 8, 2011 8:01 PM

The last two days here in Haiti have been incredible. We have spent a lot of time at our worksite and at an orphanage close to our lodging location. It has been so fun to get to know some of the kids and seeing how far a lot of love in a little time goes! At our worksite, we have been carrying block after block. We have been getting tired, but we know that each block will make a difference. We also told the story of David and Goliath to the kids today! They loved it! There were many gasps during "Goliath's Great Fall!" Tonight, we had a nice group of people from Good Shepherd came to our nightly meeting to sing for us. That time was treasured by all of us. Tomorrow we are going to take a long ride up the mountain to see more of the beauty of Haiti after we say our goodbyes at the site! We can't believe that our time here is almost finished! It will be an exciting day tomorrow!

Saying Goodbye...

by Team | June 9, 2011 7:46 PM

This morning we worked at Gressier for a couple of hours before saying goodbye to the workers, kids, and neighbors who were all so sweet to us! We had a quick lunch and hopped on the bus to go up the mountain for a new view of Port-Au-Prince. It is cooler and beautiful up there. We spent some time fellowshipping with each other and shopping for beautiful things to bring back from this beautiful country. For dinner, we had a surprise! We stopped in at an air conditioned restaurant and had dessert first! We ate our burgers and fries on the way back to our lodging location. We only had 20 minutes before our closing meeting with Pastor Samson. Pastor Valcourt from Mariani came to share with us as well. It was so good to hear his heart for his community! Now, we are relaxing and getting packed up to come home tomorrow! We look forward to seeing you all then!

Hi Stevie & team, it did our heart good to read your post this morning, we both laughed at the thought of "Goliath" falling and all those children "gasping" (good job Alex D)!! We have been praying for you every morning and have thought of you all during the day. We know it must have been very hard work the past few days, but also that every moment of it was worth it. Thank you for serving God so faithfully and for being the hands and feet of Jesus. Can't wait to see you all tomorrow. We love you.......

Hi Alex and Heather, what a good looking Bushel bunch! May the LORD bless and keep you ALL as you sow seeds of His great Gospel. I am praying for eternal fruit from your obedience. Philippians 2:13-15 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, PRESS on Beloved, I think you are amazing!
