Today, the Brookdale Presbyterian team painted
the kitchen in Miss Johnnie’s beautiful home. Throughout the day, the team
worked very diligently in every task that they were given. They also had the
opportunity to not only develop relationships with each other throughout the
day, but also with Miss Johnnie.

During out time here in Houston, we have grown
to understand that not only are houses being built, but friendships are too. Throughout
the day, as the team built up friendships, they also worked together to help
rebuild houses into homes. The team has enjoyed working within the community to
restore what was lost.

Today, the team worked really hard to finish up
their work on Miss Johnnie’s kitchen and bathroom. The ladies had an amazing
time getting to know Miss Johnnie these past few days, so they decided to take
her out to lunch so that they could have some more time to fellowship with her
while the paint on the cabinets were drying. After lunch, the team headed back
to Miss Johnnie’s home where they finished all their work on her kitchen and
bathroom and then they said their goodbyes. The team feels super blessed to
have been able to work on Miss Johnnie’s house and will not forget about all
the funny stories that she shared with them!

Today, the team worked on a new home and put up
blinds for the homeowners. Although the team struggled a little bit at the
beginning once they got a hang of it, the blinds were up extremely quick; when
finished, the team was even able to have some time to fellowship with the
homeowners and hear about their experience with Hurricane Harvey. After, they
finished putting up the blinds, the team spent the second half of their day at
Galveston Beach reflecting on their experience here in Houston, Texas.
