Through It All

by Donnell McLachlan | June 18, 2018 1:42 AM

After what turned out to be a series of unfortunate events leading up to a very late arrival, the youth and leadership of  Painesville Baptist Church from Painesville, OH made it safely to Memphis, TN! They will be serving Pastor Robert West and the good people of Kingdom Center Ministries.

Despite their late night, they were up and ready to fellowship with Pastor West and his church first thing in the morning! It was a beautiful service, and the congregation was very welcoming and celebratory of the team.

God showed us that through it all He is still faithful, and we await with great expectation the blessings and revelation to come this week!

Calvary Rescue Mission

After service was completed we stopper briefly in Downton Memphis to do some site seeing, spending the bulk of our time at the famous Bass Pro Shops Pyramid.

We left there immediately to go to Calvary Rescue Mission and make desert for, serve food to and celebrated with the homeless men that the organization services and helps to rehabilitate daily. It was a blessing; all if the men were kind and welcoming.

During CRM weekly chapel some of the youth even got to lead worship as the rest of the group intermingled and sat in the crown to fellowship!

We look forward to what God has in store for us tomorrow.

Lisieux Community Home

by Donnell McLachlan | June 19, 2018 6:30 AM

On Monday morning the Painesville Baptist youth team went over to the Lisieux Community home to do some construction and landscaping projects, as well as helping with a fundraising initiative.

We met a woman named Sandra, the leader of the home, who told us about her nonprofit’s efforts to combat the trafficking and exploitation of women in Memphis. She spoke passionately about the experiences that women that come through the Lisieux Community have had and about the rehabilitatitive work that they are doing with the women, and she concluded by encouraging youth to stand up for the oppressed.

It was a huge success for the first day and plenty of youth came, praise God! There was Christian Education, games and snacks all evening. We are excited to see how VBS grows over our time here.

On A Mission

by Donnell McLachlan | June 19, 2018 3:10 PM

Today the youth woke up bright and early  and headed over to Saint Vincent dePaul Food Mission to help serve, clean and distribute food. It was a challenging task, but by the end of the day the youth had individually prepared, wrapped and placed on trays food for nearly 200 homeless people!

We’re so thankful to have shared a small part of a mission that has relentlessly served the needy since 1833.

by Donnell McLachlan | June 21, 2018 6:05 AM

On Wednesday morning, the Painesville youth group went over to the Lisieux Community home one last time to complete the projects they had been working on all week. They were successful and did an excellent job!

Right before they left they got to do a dance for Sandra that they had been rehearsing for a few days. She loved it!

Prayer Walking

by Donnell McLachlan | June 21, 2018 6:28 AM

On Wednesday afternoon we all walked the Big River Crossing trail which is right on the border in between Tennessee and Arkansas. We stopped in the middle of the bridge at the border and at the end of the bridge in Arkansas and prayed over the city of Memphis and the state of Arkansas.

In the picture you can see that half the the team is in Arkansas and half of the team is in Tennessee!

Saying Goodbye

by Donnell McLachlan | June 22, 2018 9:03 AM

After a beautiful last day of VBS filled with games, food and drink, the Painesville Baptist Church youth said their tearful goodbyes and headed back home.

They didn't leave the same way they came; they left aware and with a renewed heart for the service of others. It was an honor to see them grow in Jesus this week and to be a part of that process!

Saying Goodbye
