Here we are!

by Mike Korth | April 16, 2011 11:40 AM

We have all made it safely to Belize! We are getting situated and settled before lunch and a visit to the Children's Home in Belize City. Thank you all for your prayers for safety and well-being. We will be sure to keep you updated along our journey this week. Keep checking in!

Palm Sunday

by Mike Korth | April 17, 2011 9:47 PM

Today we were blessed to take part in the church services at Queen Street Baptist Church. Our morning started out with Sunday School. We were broken into a few different age groups and were allowed to participate in the different discussions and devotions that church members led. We were blessed with two church services today, one this morning and one tonight. Some of our group members gave testimonies during the service tonight. We are excited to get rolling with ministry tomorrow!

Kicking it up a notch

by Mike Korth | April 18, 2011 9:29 PM

This morning we kicked it into high gear and started our projects at the church. We will be doing some repairs in and around the sanctuary. After lunch we took the bus to the children's home for a time of ministry with the youth that were there. We then drove out to Memorial Park in Belize City where we hosted sports activities for the children in the neighborhood. Tonight we had men's and women's bible study at the church.

Boring title; exciting day! This morning we rode the bus up the winding road to Altun Ha, the site of the ancient Mayan temples. We learned a bit about the ancient Mayan culture in Belize and climbed a few of the structures while we were there. In the early afternoon, we made a visit to the retirement center in Belize City, Sister Cecilia's. There we were blessed by great conversations, games, stories, and laughter. This afternoon we picked up the neighborhood kids and headed out to the park for some sports ministry time. The children had a wonderful time learning kickball, playing with the hula-hoops, and tossing the many balls we had available around. Tonight at the church we hosted a youth night for the youth group at Queen Street Baptist. Some of us led worship, while others of us gave testimonies or led games. It was a great day full of relationship building and ministry. Please continue to pray for our health, safety, and energy level as we minister in Belize these next few days.

Getting it done

by Mike Korth | April 20, 2011 10:43 PM

Wednesday was a day packed full of exciting ministry! We spent the morning at the church -painting, cleaning, sawing, drilling, hammering, etc. Our projects are almost complete. We will work tomorrow morning at finishing some things up. After spending time at the children's home and in the park with the neighborhood children, we set off for an adventure in Belize City. Pastor Stanford and the church hold monthly evangelistic services in the parks and streets of Belize City -we were invited to attend and participate in tonight's event. Some gave testimonies and shared music, while others of us interacted with the children and residents in the neighborhood. It was another good reminder of why we came down here.

My prayers are with the Praying Pelican Missions group as they say goodbye to Belize and come home to their families. I have so enjoyed reading the posts each day and seeing the wonderful photos. The photo of Annie talking with the elder gentlemen on the bench will be in my heart always. I'm sure all of you from Hope Church have memories from this amazing experience that will be with you a lifetime, as are the lives you have touched and changed as you tell them of God's love. God bless each and every one of you.

I really want to say something spiritual maybe even inspiring but what I am really thinking is, how's the food and are you hot yet? Even though my mind produces simple thoughts, our prayers are that you all grow in your relationship with each other and with Him. We pray that the love you went to share lands right on the heart of the person the Lord intended and that this love will kindle the person to know Christ Jesus, renewing their life

What a great chance to demonstrate your humility, to serve and to glorify God. The biggest gift you can deliver is the gift of hope. Nobody can take that away from the people you meet. May you find the faith to open your hearts and have the courage to follow the path that God has revealed for each of you. What an experience! I pray that this enriches all of you, spiritually. All my Best, Roger Clement (Annie McArdles's uncle)
