Happy Sunday

by Javanie Byfield | June 25, 2018 4:18 AM

Hello friends and family

Yesterday was a great start to the mission trip. We were up for a 8:00 o'clock breakfast and shortly after we headed inside the church for worship. The worship for many was different and what many loved about it was that there was a mixture of the order which came with some spontanety which was what made the difference. The speaker for the day spoke on the body parts which was the same line of thoughts I shared with the team Saturday night.

We had a wonderful lunch and was off to the St James Infirmary to love on the residence and that was exactly what they did. You could not tell who were the newbies from those who had been there before. They all went through the rooms transferring the love of Christ to the residents. It was a blessing to see them.

Later we went to Scotchies jerk centre to have dinner which was a wonderful spread and then headed back to Belmont to have worship and debriefing about the day.

Happy Sunday

Marvelous Monday

by Javanie Byfield | June 26, 2018 6:01 AM

Yesterday was great! We got up to a 8am breakfast and was on our way after to the Content Basic School to conduct VBS. These team was great as they were well organized and set for a wonderful ministry. They went in and was great with the kids. We spent roughly 3 hours on ground then we headed back to church to have lunch.

Later we were on our way down hill to the Garland Hall children's home to rap with the children and share the love of God with them. This went over well as some played games with them, allowed them to braid their hair or just sat and have a conversation.

Later we were back up the hill to Belmont for dinner and VBS at the church. The same procedure was carried out as the group did songs, stories, crafts and games with the children. VBS was now over and it was time for us to look to our maker and helper to worship Him and thank Him for a wonderful day as we debriefed and geared up for another exciting day.

Here's to Tuesday

by Javanie Byfield | June 27, 2018 5:49 AM

We got up to a 8am breakfast and was up hill again to spend the day with the kids from content Basic School. We share in songs, crafts, games and stories with the children. When it was 12 we noticed it was that time to say our goodbyes and head back down hill but first we had to offer up some prayers for the staff. We were thankful for the experience. A small group was at the construction site assisting with building columns for the foundation. They got alot done which will continue into today.

We then had lunch after which we headed on our prayer walk. It was here that we saw God in His element. It was a great pleasure to see how many stepped out of their comfort zones and just allowed God to speak through them.

We later came back for supper then it was time to prepare for VBS. The story was about how God fed the multitudes with only five loaves and two fished. They also did a craft with Jonah in the belly of the whale. It was also that tiem before we knew it to said our goodbyes to the kids as Tuesday being our last night of VBS.

We engaged in worship after and had persons prayer with each other then sharing of testimonies. We debriefed and then headed for bed.

Here's to Tuesday

On our prayer walk we went to a lookout point that overlooks Montego Bay. It was a blessing to look at God's wonderful creation.

Rec Day

by Javanie Byfield | June 29, 2018 4:54 AM

Today we started off with a 7am breakfast as we knew it would take us some time to get into Ocho Rios. We got there about 10:15 am and headed for the craft market where team members would shop for souvenirs to take back home with them. In approximately forty-five minutes we were back heading to Dolphin's cove.

Here we had lunch, dolphin swims, snorkeling, kayaking, and the likes. It was a day well spent relaxing. By 5:15 we were on the bus heading to dinner which was another plus. The food was great and the view was even better.

We headed back into Montego Bay to do our packing and final clean up for this morning.

Goodbye from Jamaica

by Javanie Byfield | June 29, 2018 1:45 PM

By now our team should be in the air heading to Missouri. It was truly a fantabulous week. The gospel has been shared with many and we leave the rest to the good Lord to do what He chooses. We say thanks to the team from Aldersgate UMC and wish them all the very best as they continue to spread God's love.

Goodbye from Jamaica
