We're finally here! Got to our new home this afternoon and settled in with the other two groups. Got to meet and mingle a little before doing some worship and orientation. After an evening of worship and orientation we are ready for a full day of ministry tomorrow! Please continue to pray for our week and those we will be serving and serving with!

Today was a great start as we dove head first into VBS and attempted to do some construction. VBS went great and we had a good turnout of children for the first day. After VBS and an awesome lunch of fried chicken with some amazing sauce, we did a little construction, but God had other plans as some of our materials didn't show up on time. So instead we had a chance to walk through the community and invite children to VBS for the rest of the week. By the time we finished our walk we had a pretty good sized entourage! So it was kind of a slow day, but it was good to rest in God and know that He has a plan for this week! Thank you all for your continued prayers!

Today was awesome! We lead vacation bible school in the morning, then went to the infirmary where we sang with the residents. The infirmary is a place for people to go when they don't have anything else in life and nobody to take care of them. I read from my bible to a woman who couldn’t speak. The amazing thing about it is that they were so happy with what most of us would consider so little. I think they made most of us happier than we made them. After the infirmary we went to one of the schools here and made blackboards. I can’t wait until tomorrow when I get to keep serving God.

Today was our last day. Things have changed so much since we got here four days ago. Our group went from barely knowing each other to being a family. The last of four days of bible school was hard for all of us (mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually). The kids were crazy and we had to chase them everywhere, but it was such a reward. Their faces filled with hope and eyes filled with love. They loved us in those four days like family. After lunch we got to help build part of the church we worked at. We worked hard and had fun. We’re tired and accomplished so much! God has shaped our lives in unexpected ways this week and taught us a lot about ourselves. I know that for me, Carrie, this missions trip hit home for me. I recently heard my calling to become a Youth Minister. With every day of VBS, I could see the puzzle pieces fall into place. I made so many friends here that I may not see again on this Earth, but I am positive that I will see them along side of God in heaven. I was talking with Olivia about my week and she made me aware of all the lives that I have touched and completely changed. I cannot wait to bring my memories and lessons back home and share my experiences with the children in my community. I know that I have grown closer to each and every youth member that was a part of this trip. I am proud of the work that we have done as a total. From construction to VBS, our work will not be forgotten.

It looks like everyone is settling in. We are praying not only for a safe trip, but one that God has designed for each and everyone of you to do his work in the field and in your hearts. Look carefully each day to see where you see Jesus. He will be at work all around you and in each other. One of the neat things about this website is when you talk about meeting other groups that arrived the same day you did, we can look at their photos and get a glimps at who they are and where they are from.

From the photos and the note it looks like your first day of mission work in Jamaica was a good one. I hope today is even more wonderful.
