Worth the Drive

by Katrina Hulme | July 3, 2018 7:30 AM

Our drive into the village each day is long and bumpy, but the views and community are so worth it! Pastor Lupe and our bus driver Roberto are taking great care of us.

We met with many families from the community of Nueva Victoria in the morning to discuss good hygiene like washing hands and brushing teeth. Then we blessed them with small hygiene kits!

Food Distribution

by Katrina Hulme | July 3, 2018 7:38 AM

Visiting six families, talking to them about their stories, and getting to pray for them was a highlight and a privilege! We were blessed to be welcomed into their homes, and we were able to bless them with bags of food and basic supplies in the name of Jesus. We are believing that God will use this time to encourage their faith and point them to Him.

The Young will Win with God!

by Katrina Hulme | July 3, 2018 7:43 AM

After lunch, we invited kids to come hang out and we performed a skit about David and Goliath. We encouraged the kids to be like David, trust God, and believe that they can win their battles with Him.

Games, Games, and More Games!

by Katrina Hulme | July 3, 2018 7:57 AM

Games were a big part of our afternoon with the kids. We played some American games like Red Light Green Light and Duck Duck Goose (Pato Pato Ganzo), but we also learned new Guatemalan games such as a new version of Semaforo and Pica Pica Ensalada. Over 60 kids showed up on our first day, and they are excited to come back!

Fogata

by Katrina Hulme | July 3, 2018 8:03 AM

To end our day of ministry, we invited the youth to join us for a bonfire. The Holy Spirit was definitely moving as we sang, shared about God's love, and shared some of our own testimonies. They were attentive and receptive. We all made smores and roasted marshmallows over the fire!

Piñata!

by Katrina Hulme | July 4, 2018 12:03 AM

Groups of the younger kids, older kids, and several moms each got to hit a piñata. It was so much fun to hear the laughter, watch the kids scramble for candy, and then give their moms a chance to have fun! Afterwards, we shared some words of encouragement and they shared their appreciation for us being in their community with them.

Goodbye Service

by Katrina Hulme | July 5, 2018 12:49 AM

Saying goodbye to Nueva Victoria was difficult but we are so thankful for the time we have been able to spend here. A lot of community members came to our goodbye service, we prayed for many of them, and we can see the ways God has moved to bridge gaps & open doors. We are grateful, hopeful, and humbled from our time in Nueva Victoria.

See you next year!

by Katrina Hulme | July 5, 2018 11:50 PM

We are so thankful for all that God has done here in Guatemala this week. He has allowed us to influence the community of Nueva Victoria, but we have also been deeply impacted by our experiences. As we say goodbyes, we know that this is only "see you later" and we are so excited to return again next year to this place that has captured our hearts! All glory to God!
See you next year!
