We all arrived in Memphis, TN this evening. Our whole team consists of 7 people from Theta Alpha Chapter in Florida, the Seals family of 3 from Illinois, and a young lady named Danielle from California. We ate dinner, had an orientation meeting where we got to know one another better, and then settled in for a night of rest after a long day of travel. Some of us gathered together for a pj photo!

We attended church service in the morning, and it was dynamic!!! The worship was powerful and fun! Pastor Joyce delivered a beautiful sermon about how God uses our "wilderness" or circumstances and surroundings to make great things happen! And there was so much interaction between the congregation and the Pastor and worship leaders. It was a great morning, the Holy Spirit was present, and we felt so welcomed. What a great way to start off our week here in Memphis!

Pastor Joyce wanted to take a group photo with us after the service was over.

We were told by Pastor that we couldn't come to Memphis and not try Gus's fried chicken. We loaded up in our cars and headed over to the nearby restaurant for lunch. What a feast of chicken and beans! And Pastor was right - it was delicious! Had a bit of a zing to it too.

Well we couldn't go to Memphis and NOT walk around, could we? We actually had the opportunity to walk around the streets, knock on doors and hand out flyers about the upcoming revival this Wednesday through Thursday. The church will host a dynamic service each of those evenings, and they wanted to get the word out! And my, what a slew of stories we brought back! We met Spanish speaking families, people who were so welcoming, even inviting us to step into their homes to chat... we got to pray for folks, talk to strangers, and even enjoyed a fantastic rap session from one young man we met. And we did it all with several members of our host church, including the pastor. It was so much cooler and EASIER than we ever expected.

After lunch we drove down to the Lisieux Community home and were able to help make Mother’s Day Cards! The Lisieux Communtiy is a home for women trying to get their life on track after being subjected to addiction and prostitution. We loved being able to hang out with Wendy, Mary, and Sandra as they told us a little bit of their stories. We had so much fun making cards. Who knew we could all be so creative?

After an AMAZING barbecue dinner, (don’t worry Savannah got the recipe), we drove on down to Christian Rescue Mission. CRM is an organization that helps the homeless here in Memphis. We were able to sing a couple of songs for them and than sing together as a congregation after the Word was shared. We loved being able to love and encourage the men through a simple gesture like serving them ice cream. As we were finishing up desert we really got to know some of them men there by enjoying a game of Phase 10 or just having a heart to heart.
