Cloverhill Assembly of God

The team finally got in last night after having dinner and we had a small orientation and overview of the week.

This morning we jump right into our ministry where we will be working for the next 3 days.

What's in store? Kids! Praying. Basketball. Relationship building. And more.

The team started the day in God’s Word as they explored the first chapter of Nehemiah! We read about the power of prayer and the importance of going to God before we go to anyone else.

Please pray for the team that they would be bold and step out in faith as we go into the neighborhood of Northview Heights today!

Earlier this morning the team had the opportunity to walk around the Northview Heights community. They went out to meet the people of the community and they also offered prayer to those who accepted their invitation. The team was bold and we praise God people they were able to meet and pray with several people!

The team is now helping the church in the community (Church of Our Savior) with their free lunch program. With government funding this church is able to provide free lunches for the kids of the community, Monday through Friday from 12:30 to 1:30pm! The team was eager to help and had so much fun!

After a long day the team finished off the night perfectly with dinner at the Pittsburgh Famous Primanti Bros. Each sandwich comes piled high with meat, french fries and coleslaw! The team gives Primanti’s a 10/10!!!!

Instead of going to Northview Heights the team began their day of ministry at Light of Life: Rescue Mission. This ministry provides services for the homeless and needy population on the Northside of Pittsburgh. The team will be sorting clothing, shoes, bag and all kinds of miscellaneous items to help Light of Life prepare their store for those who will be coming this afternoon. This store is a place where those who are homeless or in need can come and shop for free. We thank God for this opportunity and the team is truly blessed to be apart of this ministry and all that they do in the city of Pittsburgh!

Earlier this morning some of the team took a trip to Miss DeAnn’s home. She is a member of one of our partner churches and she needed some yard work done that she isn’t able to do since she has gotten older. DeAnn is truly a source of joy and it is evident that it is from the Lord. We were able to plant flowers, cut grass, lay mulch and many other tasks to beautify DeAnn’s property.  Before leaving we were able to pray over DeAnn and she was more than grateful and she continued to say, “Thank you is never enough”. 

Our last full day in Pittsburgh we got the special privilege to help out with Light of Life again but in a different capacity. We helped put on a community event for the homeless, low income families, and everyone else.

There were supplies being given away. Hygiene kits, music being sung and played. Hamburgers and hot dogs. Watermelon and water! 

We kept ourselves available and got to move tables and chairs we and DERRECK got in the dunk tank which we knocked him in 3 different times ha!

We wrapped the evening up by praying over the city and debriefing the week around a fire.

The team left our host church at 8 AM! We pray that they safely arrive home and that what they have learned here would go with them back into their church, families, classrooms, neighborhoods and everywhere they take their presence!
