Arrival into Haiti!

by Team | July 30, 2011 7:56 PM

We have arrived safe and sound into Haiti and are very excited about the week ahead! Today's travels were mostly uneventful, but we were all definitely moved by the intense poverty that we witnessed as we traveled through Port Au Prince. God is faithful though and we know that he is moving through His people here and we are thrilled to be a part of that movement with the Haitian church this week. Tomorrow morning we will be worshiping together with our Haitian brothers and sisters; please pray for our team as we prepare our hearts for what God has in store.

A day of worship...and kids

by Team | August 1, 2011 4:48 AM

God is so good and our team was able to worship alongside our Haitian brothers and sisters yesterday to praise His name! We began by attending Sunday morning service at the church where we are staying. While there was a language barrier through some of the service, it was clear that the spirit was on the move. After lunch, we organized kids from the church for children's ministry. We played games, did crafts, sang songs, and simply loved on some Haitian kids. It was an honor for us to have an opportunity to minister with the Haitian church today! Please continue to pray for our team...

Working away

by Team | August 2, 2011 5:03 AM

Yesterday was our first day at the Mariani church / school project. Our work this week will entail foundation work on an already needed addition to the school where we'll be moving a lot of stone, mortar, and concrete. Not long after our work began, many children from the community arrived and helped us with the work. We were thrilled to play with these kids throughout the day during our many water breaks...it was hot yesterday! We will continue our work today and will then be attending a prayer service this evening here at Cote Plage church. Thanks for your prayers...keep em' coming!

Tropical Storm Emily...

by Team | August 3, 2011 5:59 PM

For those that haven't heard, tropical storm Emily is on it's way to Haiti. We are all very safe and will be as this front passes over Haiti. The church and school compound we are staying in is safe and sound and we have no concerns about our safety. However our focus has turned to the people of Haiti. Tonight we turned to our God in worship and continue to diligently pray that He will be the shelter for the millions who are in harms way. Today we did have an awesome full day of ministry. We brought our time at the Mariani church / school work site to a close. Goodbyes are never easy and today was no exception. God brought us to this community this week and our short time there was a beautiful example of the body of Christ at work. Our team completed a major stage of work; we constructed foundation walls, columns, and concrete belts for the classroom additions. We will keep everyone posted here with updates to the storm here and potential changes to travel plans... Please join us tonight as we pray for Haiti...our God is bigger...If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31

We were thrilled to see the picture of you all having arrived safely at the start of your adventure. Stay safe, stay cool (and hydrated!), and do good work. Kate: the Brewers swept the Cubs, then the Astros this past week, and are in first place by 2 1/2 games. We'll see how they do this week against the Cards. We attended yesterday's game, and Italian won the sausage races. He was due. It was a relay race with the "Weenies." Carylann: remember to swing UNDER the ball! We'll catch up with you by phone when you return. We love you and are so proud of you! Rich and Robin

Stay safe and know our thoughts and prayers are with you. Love to you both. C/D
