Stumped with ideas on how to fundraise for your mission trip when you’re practicing social distancing? For many of you planning a summer mission trip, we know that the events of the last week have foiled many of your plans for in-person and group fundraisers. Don’t stress, we’ve got some ideas here for you!
Thankfully, we live in an incredible time in history where the internet allows us to be more connected than ever. As we move into a time of social distancing, the thought of raising funds for a mission trip may seem impossible - but don’t worry, we’ve got a few ideas to get you started!
Now is the time to finish (or start) your support letters! Whether those are in snail mail or email, take this time to get those complete!
Sell “stocks” in your mission trip that others can purchase and become a shareholder. After the trip is over, your shareholders gain more inside details into the trip, like short interview videos, printed pictures, and a ticket to come to your debriefing meeting after the trip!
There are many companies online that offer full-service t-shirt creation! Create a mission trip shirt and sell it online. Ask for payment via CashApp, Venmo, Paypal, or a check in the mail!
Host a bake sale online, where proceeds go to the trip! Items will be delivery-only and those delivering the food can take extra measures to ensure items are safe to consume. Who wouldn’t love getting cookies or pies delivered to their door?!
Many boutiques and businesses have wholesaling options to sell things like jewelry, bags, fair trade items, or coffee for fundraising. This may have some upfront costs associated with it, but it will be worth it in the end.
There are many fundraisers that you may already have planned that can translate easily to an online stage. Filling a suitcase (with cash), buying miles for the mission trip, collecting change, the envelope challenge, and more can still be done online! It will simply take someone updating your community via social media or email as progress is being made.
There are many apps out there that allow a donor to round up to the nearest dollar on their purchases and submit the difference as a donation to your nonprofit. A quick Google search can provide a host of app options that will fit you and your needs the best.
This is the time to communicate your needs online in a clear and concise way. Share the heart of your trip, where you are going, and what you will be doing while you are serving. Invite others to join your team in ministry by providing crucial funding to the trip!
